Thinking about this product for Chritmas wish list. Need some input about quality and ease of use. pro's and cons's.

We have the first generation Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher here at AG and it's possible to remove swirls if you use a foam cutting or polishing pad and run the tool on the highest speed setting and don't put too much pressure on the face of the foam pad.

I've heard the new version will over more power or at least a new design that will better be able to rotate the pad under pressure so this will make it better for removing below surface defects out of paint.

One thing you have to be careful of is that a characteristic of using very small pads is they will tend to be more prove to leave a haze in the paint if you're using aggressive pads and chemicals. I'm not sure why this is by I've seen it happen in the past and it's not a problem if you follow-up with something less aggressive either in pad or chemical or both.

:)

I never tried the Griot's 3" Orbital Polisher before but Griot's does make some great products. I like to use the PC 7424XP with a 3.5" DA Backing Plate and the 4" CCS Spot Buff Pads by Lake Country for small areas. My favorite polisher to use for paint correction is the Flex XC 3401 but you are limited to 6.5" pads or 7.5" pads.

It doesnt offer the torque and power of a PC-XP, but I like it for small areas like under the side mirrors. Also use on glass and front b-pillars. Perfect size. (it does offer adjustible speed control)

do you think it would work well on polishing a stereo faceplate, etc?
