I am interested in Gtechniq's product line but find the array of products they offer confusing. I have emailed their website directly a few times but I have not received a reply.

I want to know what they best way to achieve the ultimate Gtechniq finish is. I assume it involves EXO, but should you also use Silo Seal and Crystal Lacquer? What about Liquid Crystal? If you should use more than one to achieve the best results, what order should they be applied in?

I know EXO can be applied to all vehicle surfaces including glass. But they also have a whole line of glass products. If you apply EXO to the glass of the vehicle does it make any sense to use the glass products as well, or is the EXO all you need? I have used their Wheel Armor product and have been happy with the results, but if I am applying EXO to the wheels would it make any sense to use the Wheel Armor too?

Anyone's personal experiences in application and results are appreciated. I have seen some you tube videos with some amazing beading from the application of Gtechniqs products and that is what I am after. Thanks!
 
I have done two cars with Gtechniq C1 and 2 coast of EXO. C1 is very easy to apply just like opti-coat. EXO you have to do smaller areas than C1. If you going to apply both coatings make sure it's above 60 degrees. You need to wait between 6-8hrs until you can apply EXO. Then for EXO you have to wait between 20-30 mins between coats. This is all from GTechniq I called them to make sure about applying both coatings. You can call me if you want some help.

Good idea or Overkill?
 
I am also interested in some of their products. I am wanting to try silo and C2V3 sealant. How do they compare to other sprays such as Megs D156, WG deep gloss seal spray, or blackfire polymer spray?

C2V3 is extremely streaky (especially in high humidity) and takes a lot of patience to get clear. I wish they would bring their smart carnauba spray wax back. That stuff was great!

I have heard problems of exov2 streaking or ghosting as well. I can see why. When I applied it to my truck it did the same thing (streaked) and was hard to remove. You think you wiped it off but it's still there. Kinda like "caked" on and I constantly had to keep turning my suede mf towel and used about 3 of them. Flood lights really helped me find the spots I missed.
And from what I'm aware of. You have to wait 3 hours after applying c1 to top it with exov2.

It's 6-8 hours before you can apply EXO after C1 and thats coming from Kevin Awalt Project manger at Gtechniq.
 
so it sounds like you guys dont agree with the following statement?

"GTechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal is known for its ease of application"

was it worth the effort once you got it right?
 
does anyone have an opinion of using the wheel Armour and glass product line in addition to EXO on glass and wheels?
 
I think the wheel Armour is great, I have used it before and been very happy with the results. That is really the reason I want to try the rest of their products.

I agree that the glass products are good too, but should the wheel Armour and glass products be used in conjunction with the EXO ?

EXO is meant to be applied to the paint, glass, and wheels right?
 
C1 and EXOV2 are easy to apply. There was/is an issue with unknown reaction time streaking that the company says it's not an issue if you apply EXO over C1 between 3 to 24hrs after applying C1.

C2V3 is also easy to apply as its own sealant layer or on top of C1 but not on top of EXO. The best way to apply C2V3 is to dilute 3 parts distilled water to one part C2V3. Then for the most part it's a wipe on wipe off.

You should make sure to read the blog section of Gtechniq's website for more information on the products. Especially how EXO and C2V3 are removed (alkaline degreasers), which means be careful how you wash your car or the layers will be removed (never go to a car wash if you use EXO or C2V3).

Now that is said, I don't think you'll find anything close to the feel that EXO leaves on paint. It makes paint feel supple. C2V3 does the same but not quite at the same level. I've never used EXO, C2V3 or C1 on windshields but it of the three C1 would probably be the best. It's essentially similar to other glass coatings.

Wow! Are we in grade school! I was trying to help and I talk to Kevin from Gtechniq on the phone not some guy on a forum. So I think I trust the product manger more than Rob on a forum.

The opinion from the other side of the pond agrees, but says that it should be applied between 3-12 hours post C1. I will dig up his (Rob, managing director of GTechniq) to confirm.

Lucky for you guys, I ended up being the Guinea Pig on the time issue. Glad I could help :xyxthumbs:

I know I posted my threads, but I really have to comment again and say Rob goes above and beyond with everything. He is very busy, but always makes time to make sure his products are met with the upmost satisfaction.

Rob is the managing director of GTechniq. He is in charge of their entire operation. The buck stops with him. I mention this only because I don't want people to think he is just the "forum guy" for customer service, but rather the man running the show. :xyxthumbs:
 
I have stopped using GTechniq. Too many "variables" in applying it and "issues" as stated above. I stick with Migliore Strata Coating, 22PLE, and CQuartz Finest.

Thank you! I'm glad you were able to catch it. When their products are applied properly, they are world class! I still keep in contact with Rob and he said that within the 3-12 hours, there have been no reports of issues. I think mine would have turned out fine if I had waited 12 hours instead of 36. Back then (6 months ago lol) I thought, along with many, that more time was better...

In my experience, though I am not a professional and have only applied coatings on 6 cars, they are all pretty finicky. I wish I could get the Finest - that would be all I would use. 22PLE may be too expensive for some, and I think GTechniq EXO is pretty cost effective, even when layered over C1. Thanks for your input!

I do. I applied another coat to my car a couple months ago. No issues to report and it looks great. It makes drying so much easier, too, since the water is scared of EXO! In my opinion, it is still a fantastic product!

Well maybe they should both get on the same page. The product manger and operation manger. Because that's a huge difference in waiting time. I would trust the product manger more than the operation manger but that's just me.
 
It needs to be pointed out that the C1 layer just like any other laqueur dries at a rate that changes depending on the environment (temp & humidity) that it is applied. I would cut ties with what either rep from Gtechniq says and would recommend applying EXO between 12 and 18 hrs just to be on the safe side.

Personaly, I like EXO allot. That is even after being burned from losing the layer from going through a touchless wash that nearly completely removed the entire layer (only areas that remained were where the spray jets did not hit directly). Unlike C1, I find a bottle of EXO goes a very long way. I'm playing around with the leftover remains of EXO by applying it on top of Opti Coat 2. If you are wondering why, read the blog EXO only has a opened shelf life less than a month unless refrigerated. The combo looks and feels identical to C1 and EXO. It has been on the vehicle for a month and through four washings so far and holding on. We will see how long EXO can stay on? Could be something if EXO really does bond to paint like Gtechniq claims it does.
