Guidance for polish for black & gray paints

I'm looking for some guidance on the newer polishes. I used to detail cars in college (20 years ago), but the products and technology have changed A LOT!! I used the 3M line at the time.

The cars are a 2011 BMW 335i coupe that's black and a 2003 Ford Lightning that is dark gray. I've been using Zaino for the past 10 years or so. I liked the durability of the Zaino, but not so much the final shine. It just wasn't deep and wet looking enough. Both are in great shape. The BMW has the usual black paint very minor surface swirls. The Lightning has a few water spots on the fiberglass bed cover from the previous owner.

I have a rotary buffer and a dual action and know how to use them.

I looked at some of the polishes and waxes and am considering some of these, but would like to hear about any product that will work better.

3M - Finesse It II, then Perfect It, then possibly Blackfire Wet Ice, Meguire's #26 wax, or Pinnacle Series II. I don't mind waxing 3 times a year or so to keep the shine.

The BMW will just need light buffing with Perfect It and the wax. The Lightning will need a little more buffing to get the water spots off.

I think the CCS 8.5" foam pads will work the best with my rotary and foam pads for the DA.

Flat foam pads for the DA are regarded as good pads. Hydrotech are regarded as even better, although they suffer in durability. In my opinion, I wouldn't go over 5.5 inches on a DA, just because of the lack of power.

I highly recommend the Optimum Hyper Compound and Optimum Hyper Polish. They work great with minimal dusting. It sounds like the polish is all you need on the BMW, while you might need compound and polish on the lightning.

As for getting a very wet looking appearance, something I have heard that gives some of the best looking protection you can get is 1 coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant followed after 24 hours by 2 coats of Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste Wax. The two coats should be applied with some cure time in between.

I have not tried that combination personally, but I have seen pictures and it may very well be what you are looking for.
 
The 8.5" are for the rotary and I was planning on 5.5 for the DA. I was just looking at the Blackfire Wet Diamond and I like the results that I've seen.
 
After lots of research on here, I ended up going with the Pinnacle swirl removers, then some Wolfgang paint sealant 3.0, ending with Pinnacle Souveran liquid. That should give me good durability and the deep shine of carnuba.
