NAAD, or National Association of Automotive Detailers;
OR
ADA, American Detailers Association
OR
???? You Propose a name:here
My idea is to form an actual, legal group, in-charge of some length of duty(s) that we see fit and appropriate. Ifeel this could help legitamize, and further professionalize our industry.
We need:
1: lawyer
2: Accountant
2: Volunteers
3: Donators
4: President
5: Chairman
6: # Members of Elected Counsil
ETC, etc, CALL ME CRAZY< BUT I THINK THIS WOULD WORK IN LESS THAN 18 MONTHS! Don't start-off poo-pooing it; let's see if we can get it to float first.

Do you mean instead of these organizations:
-IDA;
-NAPDR; and/or:
-PDA?

Yes, exactely. And if they wish to merge to gain straingth with us, obviously we would consider doing so.
I think we have enough talents on here that can help us to compete and go toe-to-toe, or hand-in-hand.
1: I already have a webdesigner
2: A patent examiner
3: A Lauwyer

So like an OSHA in a way but for auto detailing? Lets see if i get what you are saying. Basically this company would oversee and recognize all professional detailers? We would pay a fee, take a test possibly, get licensed, and then get to broadcast that we are professional kinda like a mechanic who is ASE certified?

If i am correct i think this is a good idea but i feel like it will take YEARS to get it established. For instance if you came to me right now and told me that i need to be certified or get licensed through you i would tell you to fly a kite and i think many of us here would feel that way. Now say in 20 years when every one is aboard this train and its mandated well then i would join.

I would like to know more about this though.

All valid points; However, don't let the speed of the ensueing operation trip you up. We may need fast, or we may need sloooow. So, who's in?
And Brandon, I wouldn't ever tell you what you NEED to do, however, I would give someone a strong recomandation say that they would be added to out our publicly available database list.

subscribed interesting idea, but I think it will take longer than 18 months.

Oh, consider this; I might be able to get the webdesign guy to build us each our own site for a groupon rate. I'm a professional salesman; I'm sure I could get him heavily discounted. I would just neeed an idea of who(~How Many) would like to have a site in our (Potetially New) Certified Directory.

So lets say some one got on board with this and became part of this endeavor. What would be in it for them?

I hate when people spew crap out of their mouth with zero intention to back it up. Therefore, i'll tell you I am a B&!!$ to the wal type guy who cab put blinders on and persevere. I guess by the end of July it's an official organization.

So it may take flight:
What's your take on the "Dues-Structure" of your proposed fledgling detailing organization?

Before answering:
Have you done any research regarding the organizations I listed above? Would it be such an obtuse suggestion to join an already established group in order to gainfully strengthen the entirety of the detailing-profession?

If you join early, have time, you could help establish this group.
If you desire to join later, you'll pay for a web link/spot within out main paige, and have a nice Bio showinh you credentails, and, possibly, some of your work.

Well I am interested. However, the hurtle i see is getting this recognized by the public, which is the most important part. For instance, if potential customers have no idea what this organization is then it's, in a sense, useless. Is there going to be any marketing or things of that nature?

No I havn't researched them, except I saw their pictures and they look like a bunc of "US." I would have to overcome my seek and destroy mentality, and see if it would be beneficial for both sides to combine. AS in, maybe differeing geographic regions.

I won't expand untill tomorrow on this part. This part is HUGE!

Brandon, this is where you can appraoch people on the stret and let then know you specialize in maintaning, restoring, cleaning, coating, and protecting their investment the way Nobody else does around your neck of the woods. You'll look classy and professional with an acredited business card to seal the deal and help spread your word. The marketing heights are soaring far above what anyone's envisioning here. Imagine walking up to mr. Mercedes with an accrediced card vs just your word. If you see no differernce, say so, and I'll do my best to shed some light on opportunities there. I am a professional salesman, not a liar, conartist, or BSHi!!er.

That's what I'm saying. Like say this company you are talking about is call NHRD. If I go to Mr Mercedes and tell them I'm recognized by NHRD and they have no idea who or what that is then all I'll have is my word. So will you be doing any marketing for this organization? If so what is your plan?

I will contribute a free spell checker and a paragraph generator to the effort

Marketing? FOR SURE! The more the better!
Our counsel will help figure this out.
We just need volunteers to lean forward.

The dealership guy has no idea what the IDA is either.

I suggest making up your own association, of just you. No one will ever know the difference.

A local Spine Surgeons who is in solo practice, but his business is called the ______ Spine Institute. Sounds prestigious doesn't it.
