Gyeon Q2 Wax Review

Looks great! I'd hope to get at least 6+ months out of a product that needs 30 mins to cure. Otherwise I don't think it would be worth it just for looks/beading alone. IMO.

You can basically go around car and start to remove where you started. It definitely was still there and protecting well.

Most would be happy. For me any product I own will last years. So where most would be happy with it at 75% of new I consider it done and add more.

I believe I have a slight case of whatever disease Klasse has... topperitis.....

Let's also remember that this product was made to be a topper for a coating as wellNow here's where the slope gets slippery, pun intended. 303 spray graphene is made to bond to whatever IT is applied to, so you could, in theory, go back and fourth between these 2 products to ALWAYS have a "fresh look" monthly or every other month

By the time I had applied the wax to the entire car and cleaned up my pads and a few other things, it was time to start removing. I did initially hesitate with the 30 min cure factor, but as I said, by the time I had tended to a couple of things, it was a non-issue.

I think this review deserves a couple of better pics of the results. :D

As a Ford man it pains me to say this, but those VE and VF Commodore's that you guys in the US got were a better car the the Falcon by that stage. GM Holden invested much, much more money into the Commodore over the lifespan of that model than Ford did on the equivalent Falcon's. The Holden drove better, felt more solid and had more modern technology. But with a 5.0 supercharged V8, I still love my Falcon to bits and would defy anyone to not smile like a loon after giving it some stick!

I've heard great things about Commodores, or Pontiacs and Chevy's as we got them. Sadly, I've yet to get any wheel time in one. For those that have driven them, the Chevy SS/Commodore from 2013 - 2016 with Magneride and a manual transmission was the second coming of the mighty BMW E90 M5, only slightly heavier. Most of the manual models around here now go for more than they sold for new. People wouldn't touch them when new, but now everyone realizes what they missed and can't get enough of the few on the road.

I have used a variety of products on this car over the years, although I'm pretty sure I have not used a Carnauba wax on it. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant works wonders on that color though.

If it looks anything like their SiO2 Sealant, which I've tried, I'm sure it was pretty amazing.

I know #845 is a forum favorite but for some reason people pass right by MUCH better product by Collinite themselves, #476 and #915

Despite the, um, unique application methods needed for 845, I think people like the liquid form better than waxes in a tin due to ease of putting product on a pad. I'll admit to being one of them. I use my DA to apply sealants and it's much easier with a liquid.

Please give us your review here when you get around to applying it, don't forget about that 30 minute cure time before removal

It didn't bother me except when I forgot about it in cooler weather and I had to wait for things to soften up.

I can remember a few times when temperatures were cool/cold and ran into issues. Once I sat it out in the sun when I started polishing, but temperatures were still too cool to liquify everything. A couple other times I left it in the garage rather than sitting it out in the sun. In every instance, the problem was easily solved by dropping the bottle in a small bucket of hot water, but still slowed me down.

I note the AutoGeek guys have used a couple of pics from my review on their Instagram. :D

Today was the first wash of the XR8 since I coated it with Gyeon Q2 Wax.

I have never seen a wax this hydrophobic before.

The way water simply fell off the car with this wax was very ceramic coating-like. Once I hit it with the blower, the remaining water beads shot from the car with ease. And it seems to play well with the OG Drying Aid. To say I am impressed with this wax would be an understatement.

Glad you like it DFB, I knew you wouldAre you going to apply it to the rest of the fleet

Sandro from Car Craft just posted his review of Q2 Wax -

Gyeon Q2 Wax Review & Testing! - YouTube

Interesting results on the red panel. I actually experienced a bit of the wax ghosting on the bonnet of the XR8, hopefully that didn't compromise the bond like it did with Sandro.

Also interesting the test section with regards to using Q2 Wax as a topper to existing ceramic coatings, causing the coating to loose it's attributes. My hunch here is that the wax clogs the "pores" of the coating, causing it loose key attributes such as water repellency. In such case, I would have tried an iron remover, IPA or even some a light claying to see if that revived the coating.

Had the same experience topping my Cquartz coating with it. Biggest mistake I ever did topping it with Q2 wax. A decon wash does not help.

I was very surprised watching this video last night over dinner. I'll be applying the very same coating, Pure EVO, to the EN and I'll be skipping the Q2 Wax going forward.
