it was put in the dryer. is it ruined? safe to use?

What are you asking, exactly?

Did it melt the fibers?

Was it dried with a dryer sheet?

I assume to test if the fibers melted is just seeing if it is still smooth? What is the significance of a dryer sheet?

There are two schools of thought on drying MF towels.

One is that dryer heat will cause irreparable damage to the towel.

The other (which I believe), is that dryer heat cannot get hot enough to damage the towel.

Dryer sheets impart a lanolin-like waxy substance onto the items in the dryer. Not good at all for any MF towel.

I dry mine all the time…. Your good. As Paul stated though a dryer sheet could coat the towel an make it less absorbent.

If it was, soak it in An APC or better yet buy P&S Rags to riches. Soak over night. Wash on hot (it will be fine) and then dry and your good.

I like to dry my towels on low for 15 mins then hange dry.

I could see high heat for a long cycle maybe being an issue. Low heat settings, I can't see being a problem.

Are drying towels supposed to be air dried?

I’ve always used low heat without issue.
