We this morning starts off nice and slow which was great. I go to do my daily forum checks and my computer goes nuts. Then it happened......The Blue Screen of Death rears its head and stops me dead in my tracks. I call a computer savvy buddy up and tell him what’s going on. I tell him the blue screen is mocking me and I can't even go into safe mode or last known good configuration. His reply "LOL" me-> sadly says he can't help especially if I can't get into safe mode. So I call Dell to see what they can do to help me out as they have always come through. Since I'm out of warranty I'll have to pay a few dollars for help. NO problem lets do this :awesome:, takes my info and what it's doing. Since I couldn't get into safe mode I was left with two options. Since I never got a back up disk of XP they would send me one and then I would have to call back when it arrives. The tech tells me that there is no guaranty it would fix it it's more like a shot in the dark and hope for a bulls eye. Option two is a guaranty but I lose everything, which sucked since I never backed up my files (yeah I know). Since I felt like I was backed into a wall I chose option two and wiped out everything. We didn't have important files (I hope she didn't I'll find out when she gets home) the only thing I could think of were some pictures family, ect, ect. This sucks and a warning to all BACK UP YOUR FILES. I firmly believe Surfer is a fault from his recent threads on not wanting to lose his files. SOme how he made me do it :p. The only thing that's happen todays is I some how received Fantastic 4 part 2 weird ;)

How did I know I was going to get brought up in that post...shoulda bet money on it:D

I'm in the process of transferring files over to one of my desktops from my laptop:D

not the porn , guess wifey will have to satisfy from now on

Oh that sucks. Most people learn about the value of backups when it is too late. For less than a 100 bucks you can buy an external hard drive and backup your files. Maybe your entire system.

It's all an evil Microsoft plot! LOL!!

OH no! Your porn?! Say it ain't so. Sorry buddy.

Got a simular problem on the wifes PC, get a message from Norton that someone is hooked up on the PC and Norton cant get it sorted, when i start the PC in safe mode, it freeze or restarts....

I dont have backup other than the pics on a mobile HD.

Maybe i should tell her to stop surfing those "pg" sites

Mine would stop and say MS has encountered a problem. It has stoped load so no harm may occur to your computer. Hard memory is being dumped, blah, blah, blah. The only thing that might save me as far as pics is that they may have been saved inside the Zune. When she gets back with the Zune I will check *crosses fingers for porn* :p. Now I have to redown load Limewire Pro and redown load all my songs. Damn this sucks.

Oddly enough the Microsoft Zune might have my pics. And yes my porn is gone :o.

Now shes getting mail from "poker" sites and thanking her for joining as amember with the e-mail adr xxxxx, THAT i DONT like.

Spyboth search and destroy freezes everytime i try running it. ADaware works.

Is there any other good Programs for spyware removal etc i could try?

PCs is great when working as they should, when they start to f##k up i just hate them. takes you 2 days or more to fix em (or tonns of money)

eh, forget about the family pics and important files.....

but NOT THE PORN! Stored in the secret file buried deep in "c" drive:o .....oops, was I thinking out loud? hehe....

looks like the wifey will have to come first (not meant in a dirty way) from now on......:p

I've had reformat my computer 3 times in the past year!

I had some really good vids too :(, and my passwprd doesn't work for somethingBros.com :D. A good thing is an old link for Limewire PRO still worked so thats good.

My biz partner went to school with a chick from, uhh, the special "bros" site:D....

And now I screwed again lol, can't get Jimmies cable to work, installed fine on my Laptop, but it prompted me for the cd on my desktop which is fully upgraded and it just gives me a box that says "finish" and won't do anything, can't figure out how to transfer the cables...why can't it be easy and say "click this button for computer A to transfer these files to Computer B".

I'm gonna see if I can transfer over wireless

Surfer better duck .... lets cap his azz :righton:

I know what you mean, Limewire installed prorperly and seems fine. Except it's been "starting connection" for the past 15 minutes. Anybody got any idea what I can do?

Now I can't even remember how to access the network I have at my home, my laptop always connected wirelessly. I'm about to give up and run to CompUSA and just buy another computer as I hate dealing with computers.

I'm giving it one more shot on another desktop before I make a trip to CompUSA lol.

Not sure if you are trying to put a desktop on your existing home network. Your router address will be something like http://192.168.1.1/ In there you can access you settings. On our computers that hook in through the network cables it generally detects everything. On those with wireless access I have to add the computers mac address to the router to allow it.

I hate fooling with the computers we have when stuff goes wrong. 9 times out of 10 it's something I've fixed before but can't remember what I did.

Fixed the Limewire stuck on "Starting connection" I just needed to down load Java 1.4.2 JRE file. Only took me 3 hrs to figure that out (off to collect some "movies")

I always back all of my pr0n up on DVDs, that way when my computer crashes there is nothing I could probably care about!

I also back all of my pictures and music up every once in a while. To be honest with you, I re-do all of my PCs at least once a year to keep them fresh and fast.
