Right before Halloween a few guys I know from my local Subaru club decided to decorate their cars for the holiday. This particular one had plasti-dip handprints all over the paint.

Right before the actual holiday he got bored with it and decided to take it off, this didn't turn out well; so after peeling off the dip in comes the detailing friend who owns a side business

This didn't work out to well, there was still a significant amount of residue left on the vehicle and he posted on a facebook detailing forum for help; the reply was Goo Gone

(Yes he paid for that 'detail')
So in comes dad, who says he will pay for his friend's car wash/detail shop to fix the issues.

Truth be told they did a decent job with the car, they removed most of the plasti-dip residue then used these 2 products.

Apparently he wasn't happy with the result (you use a swirl remover product but the car still has swirls?!?) and another Subaru club member had him reach out to me, so he came over the next day and I took some photos then began.

Since the shop did a ton of work on the vehicle the day before I pointed out the things that were not taken care of as well as touch up paint (he is the 2nd owner of the vehicle). I then handwashed the car with Chemical Guys Blacklight soap and used a clay matt to decontaminate the vehicle since it sat outside all night.

After drying the car and feeling comfortable enough for the D/A I put it in the garage and went to work with old faithful "HD SPEED"
A few passes on the car and the result had him very excited and happy he made the drive.

Had fun working on the car, I only spent an hour, and I think the most important thing was showing him how to maintain his paint with a few products he can get locally.

You only spent an hour washing, claying, drying, then polishing the whole car?

Was thinking the same thing. Would have taken me that long to take the pics. LOL

Either way, nice job.

3 details later!

Car looks great but there's no way it only took an hour to do what you did, LOL.

BTW I really like that stripe on the rocker panel

An hour is impresive! What da and pad where you useing with speed? Did you 2 passes with it on whole car?

Great job you did!

Now, tell him no more silly holiday stunts with Plastidip! Nice job.

To clarify, it only took me an hour to use the HD Speed on the entire car, that took so long because I was talking to the owner and his friend after I worked on each panel. If you want to tally up the entire time, hand washing the car was about 15 minutes, the clay mitt was 10 mins, drying the car was 5 mins ( I use a leaf blower followed by microfiber towels and there were 3 of us drying) then the actual HD Speed 60 mins; the way I typed it earlier is confusing.

the 3D D/A (pretty sure it's a chinese model with their name stamped on it) and their purple 5.5 LP pad
thanks so much

Yeah I explained the timing in an earlier reply
I like that stripe on the rocker panel also, thinking about finding one for my '18

I'd love to see a video of you washing a car in 15 minutes and clay mitt in 10 minutes in real time, that's really moving. :urtheman:
