Those of you that use halogen lamps, what wattage are they? How much do they help? I was thinking about getting some since the lighting in the garage isn't the greatest.

I use the 2 500watt tripod from home depot.

Honestly for $20 they are well worth it.

I use a 500w sometimes. It is a brutally honest source of light. If you're not careful you'll be chasing tiny scratches 24/7. lol JK kinda. It works, burns hot as hell.

I would look into a CFL or LED solution these days, not so much heat or bulb burnouts.

I use a 500W tripod as well. Hot but it works good for bad lighting.

I agree with Setec........but usually I polish in the dark with "1" 500w halogen behind me.....

For inspection purposes all the light the better....the sun is the best.

Technology in lighting is becoming better and better......for what we do.....that said, soon we will be able to see things that nobody has seen before.

And that could reinforce our OCD as we see it.

Halogen = HOT!

They are amazing though! Can't live without them

Do take a look at the LED ones too. I picked up a 2500 lumen LED work light from HD. It really does the trick and doesn't kick my breakers.

I have a tripod with 2 500 watt lights and a single 500 watt.
They work very well.

Exactly. You can't beat the price of them. LED and CFL ones are nice but for $80-$100 a piece the halogens win.

I love using my halogens when it's cold out or I'm rolling the car out to clean up the wheels. Put that baby close and work with comfortable climate temps.
