Hey guys! So when I first started detailing I loved the longevity of sealants and its what I mainly used for a long time. But recently I've found myself using more carnauba paste waxes and applying by hand. Over the past couple months I've been trying out all the paste waxes I can. I've used Fuzion and most of the Dodo's including the Creme Egg wax. I don't know if I like the looks more or the joy of hand applying a quality wax. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. And any paste waxes I should really try?

I'm in a similar place right now :) When I first got into this, I thought that I would go the route of liquid sealants - easy on, easy off, nice durability. However, I've found that I really enjoy applying paste waxes by hand, and I've built up a small collection of paste carnaubas (17 waxes so far :)). I've not used all of them yet though, so I'm hesitant to recommend any in particular - but if you can get some, I really liked Bilt Hamber Finis Wax.

Sometimes I feel like I'm opening a Christmas present when I start to wipe off the wax :)

I always apply paste waxes by hand. Gives you some "alone time" with the car.

While I'm an adovcate for applying sealants and waxes using my dual action polisher, the nicer more expensive waxes I enjoy applying by hand, it's more fun and relaxing that way. :props:....

My new habit has been topping a sealant with two coats of carnuba paste wax. I've achieved some pretty fantastic results doing so.

I enjoy it. Got to try sv concourso. If you have the money for it.

You're saying you bare-hand(s) apply SV Concorso...[Eureka! No upfront costs for applicators...Quite a fascinating money-saving tactic!!]

With that in mind...Did you also bare-hand(s) apply any of SV's: "Have to use prior to a Concorso application":...Cleaner Fluids (pre-wax treatment)? Just curious, that's all.

:)

Bare hand wax application is fun. Zymol Titanium is a great wax to start learning this process.

I don't barehand wax with sv. Applicator is used. Not sure where you got that. But I do love cleaner fluid as well but don't always use it before sv wax.

Hi shoeless...Glad you're enjoying your wax application method!

As rough as my hands are, I'd be afraid of instilling some 'blemishes' upon the top-coat paint film. Perhaps if I did it enough my hands may soften-up some...

I agree there's something about wax by hand that is relaxing. I haven't used my dual action to put on wax yet should give it a try sometime

I can't tell which people are talking about 'hand applying' being with just a bare hand and which are talking about it just being with an applicator by hand rather than a DA......

Fuzion is a dream to apply by hand, but I like the results better when I remove it with a DA polisher.

Lol :iagree:

Either really lol But my intention was with applicator in hand.

I don't think removing it with a DA should really change the results

OOOOPS!! Sorry about that shoeless...
I thought you meant this type of bare-handed application shown below!

I had planned on machine applying the wax to the paint but PJ shared with everyone some tips and techniques for hand applying this pre-softened Carnauba Wax so we listened up and followed his instruction.

After breaking the seal and removing the lid, he then rubs his clean fingers over the top of the wax softening it even more than it already is...
