is this because the wax dried and sat for too long on the paint before being removed? or too much product?

Well, basically.

No matter how hard I try I could never apply just the right amount of wax by hand, I always applied too much. This made removing it very difficult to remove requiring allot of force and pressure just to get the stuff off. After I was through it always seemed as if there were left over traces of wax or marts from using too much pressure or the wrong towel removing it.

i dont see why, there were holograms in the pattern than i applied the wax...i just removed them with a QD...

i get what youre saying bobby but i still dont know exactly what caused it...because i dont see how having to rub hard to get it to come off would cause holograms?

Holograms can also be caused by buffing hard and creating them while removing the wax. If you removed them with a detail spray then it sounds like it was left over wax. Sometimes leaving the car in direct sunlight allow the surface to heat up an actually melting the residual wax making it disappear.

The swirls were probally already there. That, or the towel you were using caused it

3 cents

im positive they werent there before...i was using CG super towel microfibers to remove it...i just think it wasnt removed all the way...ordered some cobra indigo towels for next time, thanks

I think maybe you're mixing words.

I don't believe you had holograms. What you probably had was an over-application of product (since you were able to remove it with a QD wipe-down).

Just try to apply the product thinner the next time around and be sure that you are getting complete removal.

Removing wax with a quick detailer can certainly aid in making sure you get it all off.

ok thanks, i could only see them under the sun and they were only visible from certain angles, at other angles they werent visible, i thought thats what holograms were

but i can just spray the QD after the first wipe?

When I remove wax I generally spray a very light mist of quick detailer across the panel after the wax has hazed and remove it with a microfiber.

"Holograms" are generally an issue with the paint that comes from improper use of a rotary and (typically) wool pad, which requires correction via proper rotary use and a finishing pad or DA polisher.

I agree, It sounds like you just had a bit of smearing. QD works great for removing any smears left over after you wiped off most of the wax. Maybe you could try letting the wax dry longer next time, and apply a thinner coat. This should help.

What wax were you using?

i was just using some megs deep crystal that i had left, i thought that letting the wax sit longer would make it harder to buff off and it would cause what i mentioned? and spraying a QD after the wax would not affect the sealant if i were to apply it?
