Happy Father's Day Dads

Lauren, My kids won't be getting Lambo or any kind of car at 16. I don't think it's good to spoil you kids. Lots of love, guidence and affection. They can do without most material things.

Nica, I think girls are easy when the are young because then don't get into as much. When they are in there teenage years and start liking boys it's going to be a lot more to worry about.

Enjoy your day with your kids Chris.

You obviously don't live where I do!
And you will change your mind...watch. The nagging will get you, and knowing you, you will make the vary big mistake of buying new.

Speedos are great for summer detailing in Florida. When you get hot you just go jump in the water and cool off. Maybe you should get some for your Birthday Dennis since it's to late for Father's Day.

Gary, that would be like trying to fit 10 lbs. of crap in a 5 lb. bag:o No speedos for me:p

Lauren, Around here a lot of people do spoil their kids and buy them new cars or whatever they want and then some. The kids don't appreciate it and it's not a good thing. I'm a strong believer in hard work and I dont' want kids to expect that everything will be just given to them as far as material things go. They get everything they need and more. When it comes to everything the want they know they are not going to get it.

Nice kids Dennis (I mean Dad). I bet your wife gets you a speedo for your birthday.

I agree with you Gary and it's good to know that you have a down to earth attitude, I for one will pass on the the rust bucket Jeep to my little girl before she will ever have a new vehicle. I too will make my kid(s) earn what ever they get. Last thing I want to have is some lasy kids expecting things to fall in to there laps all the time. To many spoiled kids in this world.

Gary, you sound like a very well rounded person. Haven't met you but sure like the way you think buddy.

dengood - very cute girls buddy...oh and I got a mental picture of the speedo dooooo! ;)

My uncle. aunt and one of my cousins live in Dallas. One of my cousins live in Austin and one now lives in Atlanta. All 3 of my cousins there went to the University of Texas. They use to live in Houston growing up.

Hook 'em Horns! UT is the reason why I came to Texas, I graduated from there with a degree in Advertising back in 2002! Loved that school, best time of my life.

Thanks Carlos:)

Gary, I agree with you 100%. I've had to work for everything I own, and I mean everything. I had to pay for my 1st car on my own when I was 17, and everything thereafter. It has taught me to appreciate what I do have, no matter how big or small, how much or how little.

My parents paid for my first truck when I was in high school, but I paid for my current one in cash...

:)

I have never been to UT but all my cousins talk highly about it. My uncle and aunt were both from Michgian. My uncle and I both went to the University of Michigan. He is an archeologist and has been in the oil business all is life. I have a BS in computer science and an MBA from UM. The old college days were a great time in my life also.

My parrents never brought me a car. My father use to let me use his old junk car sometimes. They were great parrents and it made me feel great to be able to give them a car for Christmas.

Carlos and Dennis I agree with you both. The best things you can give your kids are the things you teach them and lots of love.

Dennis even though I worked at a gas station when I was in High School I never had a car until my latter years in College. Even then it was an old Oldsmobile with holes in the floor. I could not afford gas to drive it much. Most of the time in college I just had a bicycle which was tough in the Michigan winters.

Gary - Happy Father's Day. Very pretty girls you have there.

Good thing you were not visiting your family in Dallas today. We had real heavy rain. The power went out at our home this morning and the pickup truck wouldn't start! Not a good way to begin my day. I worked my tail off renovating a condo I own that will be on the market soon. My family came with me for part of the day.

Thanks Lauren, the hair is from mommy.....she had red curly hair when she was little. The youngest one had blonde hair up until a few years ago and the oldest one just had her hair done the day I took this pic. She's going into high school this year so she got a new style with highlights. She get's braces on Friday.

The oldest likes to stay inside and read books and the younger ones like to play outside. They wear sunscreen they just tan very easy like there mom.

Not a particularly exciting Fathers Day for me, but a relaxing one mostly except for washing both DD's. I laughed when my neighbor came home when I was washing my wife's truck and he asked if that was my Fathers Day gift.
