I'm buying the DA polisher. Price is $59.95 minus the 20% online coupon for a final price of $47.98....Basically, I'm betting fifty bucks it will be good enough for the four times a year I buff out my car. Besides, I like a trip to HF every once in a while.....A lot of junk yeah, but some things just don't need to be top quality. It's like finding crappy applicators at the dollar stored...They're great for tire dressings, protectant on plastic, etc

Thanks a bunch! I didn't want to reply to your PM cause I am very sure that it is full enough. You have really gone out of your way replying to all of us users.

jbwallace....how is the quality? Does it appear to be of substantial quality?

Honestly? Are you really asking this with 34 pages on this topic? Please start at the first page,, do your homework and make your own mind up. Go to the store and check one out. If I sound harsh,,, well I have been sending out requested information for 4 days to people who own them. What do you think?

Welcome to the forum to the new guys.
I have a PC (Porter Cable) DA. To me it isn't powerful enough. This HF is better torque and power in my opinion. The build quality is on par with the PC. I don't know how well it holds up over time, yet. But at about $50 who cares? When it dies I buy a brand new one. Get one. It's a great tool, especially for beginners.

I'd appreciate a copy of the directions, although I think I remember what page they are on in this thread, seeing I just read the whole thing.

I always miss it when the GG6 goes on sale, so I'm thinking I'll grab one of these for a first DA. I'd like to try my hand with one while I still have my 13 year old Civic to test on. New car is already in the garage. Bonus should be that the Civic will look spiffed up when I get rid of it.

After reading the whole thread, it seems I would be giving up very little compared to the usual beginner DAs (PC or GG), especially with a new backing plate and some decent pads.

this will do everything the PCXP can do for more than half the price (slightly a little more power). i haven't really heard any reliability issues thus far (compared to the PCXP), but ergonomically this feel better in the hands. one person who has used this HARD for many many months is joe from superiorshine and he hasn't really had any problems with it (might have changed, you would have to contact im). you can try PM'ing him if you have any more questions as he probably be the one person who has put the most hours/abuse on one and can tell you more about it...
