This is true , the counter weight only needs to be changed if the DA is used for sanding.

So far when I hear people talking about smaller disks, no mention of the counter weight is made. The only time anyone changes the weight is if you had a sander your converting to buffing from all I have been ale to read. There is a guy on YT who mad a vid and was changing it, but I dont think its necessary.

I thought I lost my PC in my move so I purchased the HF polisher. To me the HF seemed a little more powerful than the PC but guess what I found, my PC:buffing:. Now I will buy a 5 inch backing plate and 5.5 pads for the HF polisher. Next the flex:xyxthumbs:.

Just did a return rebuy and got a free digital multimeter, all for $44.

today I was buffing with the foam pad, and the felt partially ripped off the foam. When I went to rip the foam pad off, the felt was pretty hot. The foam part was not hot though.

Is this common with foam pads? heat transfer to the hook and loop mechanism?

I'm wondering if I should get 7" foam pad, or cut the backing plate down to 5". Which would be better?

Wow 37 pages of reading does make you dizzy:eek::eek: I have -0 experience with detailing so HF probly my entry level step for DA use. I read one good point here that GG have lifetime warranty where as HF you can get a 2yr warranty. I live 15 mins away from the nearest HF store so if it breaks thats 15 mins going back for a replacement. If GG breaks its packaging + shipping cost. For $54.99 - 20% vs. $139 i think its a good deal for someone like me just starting to learn detailing.
I just called HF and have them put 1 on hold for pick up.
Have a nice weekend peeps!Im the MANIm the MANIm the MAN

Got it $64 with 1 yr extended warranty. Now for some 5" BP 5.5" pads from LC.

I just used my router to shave the backing plate down to 5".

Works good. No wobble.

Can I get a copy please, going to buy another and put 3 inch backing plate on it. Then I'll have 2 HF polishers, 1 with 5 inch backing plate, 1 with 3 inch backing plate and my PC with a 6 inch backing plate.:dblthumb2:

I like that idea, has anyone put a3" on a HF DA?

Has any one put a 5" on a PC (will it give better performance)

Plenty of posts around the detailing websites using the HF with a 3" backing plate and a 5" on the PC is the prefered size for best performance. If you've got both the HF and PC why not put the 5" on the HF as it has more power than the PC and put the 3" on the PC.

I use a 3" BP and a 5" BP with the HF da, no problems here.

I also use the 3" BP with the megs unigrit products to do headlights.

Would like a copy of these so called "instructions" the HF polisher is such a good price who wouldn't buy it, great way to get into detailing your own car.

Anyone have the instruction? I have seen that it best to replace with a quality 5 inch backing plate but not sure what else needs to be done

After doing more research, calculations and budgeting i returned the HF DA Polisher and got the GG Random Orbital starter kit. The kit that im building with the HF vs. GG is just $20 more + i get a lifetime warranty with the GG. Happy detailing peeps!

I have just finished putting liquid wax on with HF with a 5"
backing plate and removing with with GG6.

I don't know the life span of the HF, it worked as well as the GG6
not quite the power. Other than the life span? I think it would
be a good buy.

PS I may go buy another one with 25% coupon

There is no doubt the GG is a better DA and the lifetime warranty is IMO invaluable for those of us who only do this as a hobby, but I find it hard to believe you can put a kit together with the GG that is only $20 more all other things being equal.
