Hi mike, just trying to remove some scratches and swirls in my old audi. Im using the meguiars red pro line microfibers and m105. I am keeping the pad flat against the paint and priming my pad. Should I bump the speed up to speed 5 from speed 4 or apply a bit more pressure ?

I use speed 5 or 6 for compounding. Speed 4 would be for finishing polishing.

So I should use m105, speed 5 and some pressure or none at all

Hi Bill, what kind of polisher are using? I used 5.5 to 6 on my pc just to get the 5.5" pads to turn and remove. I think letting the pros on here know what kind on da you are using will help with the speed recommendation.

M105 on speed 6 with medium pressure. Not too much though! Or else you risk eating up your pad and the backing will separate from the foam.

Also clean your pad regularly.

You will have to put some pressure on it. What kind of polisher?? About 15 lbs.

We did an 07 Audi with that machine. I would use 5 or 6 medium pressure. Now obviously the paint on the 04 could be different. Is is single stage or clear coat?

definately clear coated, no color at all after wax or polish

The paint isn't real bad is it?? The Audi we did the paint wasn't very hard. 105 and a cutting pad should be fine with medium pressure. Keep the pad clean and rotate pads in and out to keep them cool. Check after your first section pass...if it still isn't good do a second pass. Are you still doing your test spot?

The car does not have a crazy amount of swirls, but it is hard to correct. I will try speed 5 and add a little downward force to the da.
