Has anyone had a chance to compare Mille and Makita?

Hello all,

Hope everyone had a great weekend! I some members have received their Mille, but has anyone had a chance to compare it to the Makita PO5000C?

My initial finding are this...one is green and black and the other is black and white...that is all carry on

I've used them both and the biggest difference is the direction of pad rotation.

RUPES = Pad rotates clockwise

Makita = Pad rotates counterclockwise


I'd say the above is the biggest difference. Another difference is the Makita has the option to run in gear-driven mode or free spinning mode although the free spinning mode is for the most part only practical for machine applying a finishing wax or a finishing sealant.


The RUPES Mille though is not a tool, it's a system that includes tuned pads and tuned products. The Makita comes with some starter pads made by Lake Country and like the FLEX 3401 you can use it to turn and churn just about any quality pads and products.

Ive had no time behind the Mille, but own a 3401.

I was able to use the Makita at detail fest, with what appeared to be LC thin pro pads on it. Compared to the 3401, it is smoother, quieter and doesn't "walk" quite as much. I also enjoyed the longer body length as I think it gives you a little more control over the forced rotation action.

That said, IMO to merit a replacement of the 3401, there would need to be a much larger difference in performance. Curious, still to try the Mille.
