has anyone tried the flex xc3401vrg yet.

Here's a copy / paste from "another website" that I just posted on regarding a Honday Odyssey I did today:

I just finished up the exterior on Odyssey minivan I had this weekend. it's for my neighbor across the street. He's a lawyer, so I'm trading detailing services for legal services. Same guy's Camry that is at the beginning of this thread.
I don't have a whole heck of a lot of pics from this one. It was raining most of the day here in St. Louis, so it spent most of the time in the garage.
Here's a few thoughts on my pre-polish prep routine. As you will see here, the wheels were going to be a major task:

I had just gotten a fresh bottle of P21s Total Auto Wash, and put it to use on these. It's too bad this stuff is so expensive or it would be my normal wheel cleaner. I worked the hell out of the wheels for about an hour at least (and wheel wells). Also, the first time I had to ever break out the power washer on a car:

Just used it for the wheels!
Here is the final result on wheels after cleaning, polsihing with P21s Paint Restorer, and a coat of FMJ:

I know the inside wheels are not completely clean, but that wasn't happening unless I took the rims off and that's not in my arsenal.
I then tackled the engine bay with P21s Total Auto Wash again. I actually almost used a full bottle on this minivan if you can believe that.
Next it was on to washing. I was about ready to go back to P21s car wash, but on the MDX I did a few weeks ago I discovered that "this other car wash" is one heck of a cleaner wash if you add another ounce or 2 than recommended on the directions. It doesn't suds a lot like some others, but it sure does clean!!! Here's some before and afters of the car just from washing:

Yeah, just washing the car cleaned it up a lot!!! I then clayed with gray clay (professional) from "another website". Surfaced felt like desert. Clay took care of that.
So, onto the polishing. When I hit with the halogens, I was surprised to not see any spider webbing or swril marks. I guess if a car never gets washed, then it doesn't have an opportunity to get these defects. I ended up using Menzerna IP with an orange flat 6.5" pad. This is probably my favorite combo as it takes out a lot of defects and leaves the paint LSP at the same time. There was some bird poop etching, minor scratches (and major), and other defects that I faced. This was also my first time using the black 6" bp that Powerhouse sent me. Like I said, not a lot of before and afters on the polishing front, but here's a few more that are a testament to the Flex:
I know they're hard to see here, but these are tree branch scratches that were all along the right side. I was able to remove them by about 85%:

Not sure what those little bluish looking specs are, but they turned out to be nothing.

After IP, I topped off with my favorite sealant, FMJ. I really like this stuff for it's easy on / easy off capability. I was just over at my neighbor's and his Camry is still beading pretty well about a month and a half later with minimal washing. I've been trying to get him on a maintenance program, but it's been tough.
Once again, the Flex came through like a champ for me. Although, I did have a problem with the new black bp. After washing one of my orange pads, I went to spin it dry, and after taking the pad off, the velcro piece came about 90% off. This was kind of disappointing. I put the red one back on, and will be calling Powerhouse tomorrow.

Man, I just cant wait to get this tool. I hope to have it on thursday. Thanks for all the replies.

DJ. Nice turnaround on the Odessey. The wheels look 100% better.

Ordered mine from DI last night. I'm quite excited to try this.

Hey, Zoran - had to break out the wool pads and rotary on a black Ur-anus, sorry Saturn. I worked 3 hours on just the hood and top, the rest is plastic and in a little better shape. It seriously needs a paint job, but the customer ( my friend that sells abused, er - used cars) said to just polish it up and wax it. OK........One thing I really love about a rotary is it's compound slinging ability, nothing like wiping crap off everything in a 8 foot radius. I'm assuming the Flex doesn't sling or if any, very very little - am I right?

Just and FYI I think Wolfpacker has used a foamed wool pad with his flex and siad he had great results. Maybe he can elaborate.

OK, I reallllllllllly hate that Saturn. I used HiTemp extreme cut mixed with Malco's Perfex on a yellow wool pad at 1800 rpm - still had some scratches, I gave up before I had a seizure and used some Malco Nano polish with a yellow pad on the PC to get out the compounding haze. Now, I know ya'll are thinking "yellow pad" for polishing ? Yeah, truth is with the amount of polish on the pad, the speed (6) and pressure (all I could do without getting a hernia) that pad turned just as soft as a white pad. It was also it's last time polishing, I wore the velcro off the back so bad it wouldn't stay on the PC and the front aleady had pits and holes. The result of my labor:the car is black, shiny, and you still see scratches and places that hook like a crack-head went off with an ice pick on it. But that's no matter to my car salesman friend, I'm sure a nice group of "guest" workers will be giving him a bunch of "Franklins" for it.

I hope to earn enough doing these Earl Schieb rejects to buy a Flex !

I'm suppose to get mine by 4:30 tomorrow!!!!!!!
Good luck Junebug!!!! You might better start on a new yellow pad!!!
HaHa "guest workers". The part that bothers me is this. Illegal aliens. Key word people - Illegal (all politicians repeat this word). Marajuana is illegal and people get busted for it all the time! Just my $0.02. Sorry for the rant.

Well dang MikeyC!! Thats gonna put a damper on you using the Flex!!

I am interested in purchasing a flex, but I keep hearing two different model numbers.

I saw a picture posted where they said it was the Flex XC90VRG but the plate on the machine said XC3401. Where is the XC90 model coming from, and is it the same as the 3401?

Thanks.

I understand what you're saying big Z, but I was cleaning the pad between panals with a brush and MF towel, still warm and moist - kinda like....never mind!

so the question was asked in another thread but never really answered. for those of us who are new to the amateur detailing game and have not used machines before...should we stick with a PC or is the Flex an appropriate purchase???

i just got on tonight to buy a PC, but now i think i may want this Flex instead if its not too much tool for a beginner.

thanks

i think this might be my next machine, i did read thru all the posts but this thread has been open for a while. I usually use the 5.5 lc pads for my correction with pc,now i know this was talked about but what is the availability of backing plate choices for the flex?i like using 5.5 for corection and 6.5 for applying sealants and glazes.

Yes it will be as safe as the the pc to learn on just keep the speed down a little untill you know how thw machine reacts.Mixer with the corrective propertie,s of the flex you can actually use larger pads then 5.5 for easy correction.

Now that Flex is sold by AG I feel it would be best for me to step back and let AG staff handle pre-sales related inquiries.

sounds like the way to go...thanks

thats very politically correct of you...:D. but i would like your honest opinion. AG is gonna get my money either way so if its a PC or Flex it doesnt matter. they could just say flex because its more expensive, but i dont know what their profit margin is, so they might say PC.

so if you feel comfortable just give me your recommendation. otherwise i'll go with redg35. hvala zoran

it does help, you made my decision much easier for me. Now i just have to figure out which pad combo to buy...im leaning towards the xmt swirl remover kit with LC pads...i think that should work pretty well to get me started.
