Maybe I am the only one, but I never used to be a clean freak. But once I started detailing my cars I've noticed that I get bothered if other areas of my life are not clean and organized. I should follow-up that previous statement that I do not judge how others choose to live their life. I am only bothered if MY spaces are not maintained.

My home and office space are usually pretty clean. I've even contemplated bringing some products to work to have at my desk, although the no-fragrance policy would probably put a damper on using D120.

I've always been a neat freak in all aspects. I can do the yardwork, clean a house, etc. like nobody's business.😃Lol.

I was OCD before detailing which is why I think I enjoy detailing so much.

I am OCD now because I love detailing so much. I would not say it's a bad thing.

•As with all psychiatric disorders...
-OCD can cause all sorts of complications.
-Drug and alcohol abuse are not uncommon
problems for individuals suffering from OCD.

•Thus, IMO:
-Auto Detailing is a gateway drug.

-Disallowing yourself from succumbing
to such a sinister source that often leads
to a shameful existence...is the wise route
to take as you journey down Life's pathway.

My OCD started in 92, that's when I started getting into detailing:)

i am OCD while detailing, but after 14-16 hour days 5 days a week i usually dont have the energy to be OCD anywhere else.

I was always OCD... my room was immaculate when I was a kid. My mother never had to tell me to clean it.

Detailing just gives me an outlet for it :D

I am OCD about my cars, garage, and yard. Everything else can be a mess. I work at a grain elevator so I have to let the car thing go to a degree. However, it does give me a legitimate reason to wash my car all the time.

Captain Buzzkill incoming: I know society has gotten to the point where it's like "I like things clean, I'm so OCD!" but it's actually a pretty debilitating thing for some people. The needing things clean part of it is just one facet of it.

A lot of OCD sufferers actually don't get any pleasure from the tasks that they are compelled to do. I have a friend of my family who has trouble even leaving their house because they are convinced it's going to burn down while they're gone or something horrible is going to happen. I watched them take 45 minutes to leave one time because they had to go through the house, turn everything on and off, then check the oven a few times and while we were out they talked about it every few minutes.

LOL The Subject line had me laughing. Simply put YES!! I am OCD for cars. I have become OCD on my winter hobby 2nd Amendment Stuff. I don't want t offend anyone if I say Guns/Rifles. The OCD from cars has made me OCD on the firearms. I use Polish Angel Metal Polish on making them run smoother. Polishing the feed ramps, slides, triggers and other parts.

I have always battled some legitimate OCD. I find its getting worst with age, and it has always been very selective. Detailing has actually given me an outlet which allows me to function in other areas, if some things aren't exactly as they're supposed to.

I think its more OCBD Obsessive Compulsive Behavior Disorder and YES I think I have always had it, only for certain things in my life.

I'm glad you found an outlet! Detailing is very therapeutic for me as well. It's rewarding in a variety of ways.

Agree, I think most of us here are anal-retentive, not OCD.

Lmao😂

Yea, I didn't know this question was meant literally. In that case I'd like to clarify.. I'm not OCD about cleaning the yard or the house, I'm just really good at doing it. I am and always have been good at cleaning everything. But that doesn't mean everything stays clean 24/7 lol.. Well except for my cars interior, but I wouldn't consider that actual OCD in the literal way.

The only thing I can think of that I'm legit OCD about is the way I shower. I absolutely must follow my same routine or else I wouldn't feel clean afterwards. It's been the same ever since I can remember, and I never shower half arse. Lol.

...Oh and I'm also OCD about driving my car in certain ways. Basically I've always driven my cars like they're creampuffs most of the time, except for when I'm on the freeway and then I'm free to put my foot in it.

I think this is one of those chickens or egg first stories. LOL! I became OCD about car cleanliness when I was 9 years old and my Grandfather bought a 1983 Cadillac Eldorado. Burgundy with tan rag top, and tan leather inside and Rolls Royce (like) grill on the front. At 9 years old, it was the apple of my eye and I became obsessed with keeping it clean for him. I washed it 2-3 times per week (sadly not with the 2 bucket method LOL) and waxed it once a week for him. Well here we are 30 years later and the car-cleaning OCD has been magnified exponentially with AGO and all these incredible products that just didn't exist back then. I do keep the house clean, organized etc., and I would say yes, the OCD with the car spilled over into the other aspects.

Hey we could be doing worse things :-)

I admit, I could have picked a better title for this thread. I didn't mean any disrespect to anyone who has OCD or knows someone that does.

I was just implying that once you start down the path of maintaining your vehicle to a certain standard, it starts to creep into other areas of your life as well.

I am getting anxious just thinking about how dirty my car is and knowing I wont get a chance to clean it until this weekend the earliest. A DD with two boys under 4 and daily drop-off/pick-up duty; things tend to get a little messy.
