Has this happened to you?

That was a valuable lesson, one I've learned a couple times...lol. Chalk it up under 'education'...and move on.

I am glad you started this thread Abram86, because I have had this happen to me. I did learn after that I should have noticed the detailing that was necessary, after I finished. I did however go back and finished the interior detail (at my expense)

I am not trying to put anyone on the spot light, just trying to learn.

PureShine if you don't mind, may I respectfully ask what you would have done in this situation?

I think I would have just referred them to someone here lol.

I would've explained to the customer I can not do just a vacuum the interior needs to much work for just a vacuum. To be ownest with everyone I have passed on jobs with people like this. I won't lower my standards for anyone ever. I explain to customers when I talk to them I don't do just a vacuum unless I have worked on the car in the past. I also explain to new my customers I will not touch their interior unless they get a complete interior detail. The interior of the car is the most time is spent and the hardest work is done and I make sure I get paid for it! I may loose a few customers over this but I don't care really I'm booked out 6-8 weeks.

I've kinda been here before. I had a customer that wanted just a full detailer, wash, wax, dressing, interior cleaning without shampoo. So basically vacuum it out and clean it up nicely. Welll, I underestimated the cars extent. It was full of dog hair. I thought I could just Vacuum it up, NOPE. I had to take duct tape and use it as a lint roller on the carpet. Before I started I called the customer and explained I underestimated the job and told them I'll gladly do it but it would take me alittle longer than expected. She had no problem with this. I took the loss as a lesson learned. Sucks but hey, all well.
