Have you ever "Oops, sprayed the wrong product!" Good? Bad? Disastrous?

Was doing a quick clean to get water spots off of the rear bumper of my chevelle, and accidentally grabbed black trim cleaner instead of the chrome polish because the bottles for that particular brand are IDENTICAL. (Not mentioning any names, but looking at you, Mother's!) Did half the bumper before I caught the mistake. Went back with the chrome polish, no harm no foul.

Here's an off topic: I brushed my teeth with my daughter's acne cream. It hits you really quickly that the mint flavor is missing!

I once filled my windshield wiper reservoir with Simple Green Orange APC since it was the same color and right next to my jug of RainX.

Boy, was that foamy for a long time...

Oh, man. Just a couple weeks ago I hit my whole hood with Duragloss Tire and Rubber Dressing. And then it occurred to my that my brand new bottle of spray wax felt a little light. I looked down and about had a heart attack. The good news- it came off rather easily, but I was on it real quick!

You beat me to this. Did a couple of panels before I did an "oops." Did a rinseless on it immediately afterward. No harm done.

Funny story my brother came over, had griots undercarriage cleaner in an old Adams detail spray bottle. I look over and he is spraying his entire hood and drivers side I was like ### are you doing. I said don't ever grab stuff off my shelf and start using it. Maybe I should have labeled it better lol. It was a PITA to clean off

I accidentally sprayed 303 vinyl protectant all over the back seat and rear carpet of a Honda Civic before I realized that it wasn't the 303 Fabric Guard. I didn't notice until I touched the sprayed fabric bracing myself trying to back out of the rear of car and it felt really slimy. It was time to break out the extractor.

Got done cleaning my wife's car, full detail. Got a brand new bottle of Wolfgang Fuzion Spray Wax and wanted to try it. However, I accidentally dropped it the day before, so I transferred it over to one of my generic bottles. Fast forward to the day of, I pick up the bottle and go to work on the hood. My first thought was, "strange, I don't remember it smelling this way". Next thought was, "man, this smells like Iron X..." Yep, grabbed the wrong generic bottle and spayed Iron X on the hood! Ps, Iron X is horrible as a wax, no shine at all! Lol lol

Thought of another one. My family and I were visting my parents and my dad had a Meguiars spray bottle with Glass cleaner written on it. So I grabbed it and started cleaning the windshield of my wife's minivan. I remember thinking that this glass cleaner is terrible and doesn't flash at all. I went inside to ask my dad what kind it was. Due to the reddish color I knew it wasn't D120. He told me it was actually Megs Wheel Brightener. The guy at the tire store sold it to him, but he didn't have bottle to mix some into and used the bottle with the glass cleaner label on it. My dad had know idea how dangerous that stuff can be to yourself and had not been using gloves, wearing flip flops.

The windshield did have etching and a dullness to it from the WB. I think I used Zaino glass polish to make it look better, but it was still bothersome to at least me.
Then a few months later the manifold cracked and we got rid of it anyways. Problem solved.

I was claying my wife's minivan this spring and I grabbed a bottle off the shelf that was labeled as Meguiar's Final Inspection. I couldn't figure out why it didn't have a spray head on it but rather a cap. However, I was in a rush and just found a sprayer and threw it on the bottle. I started spraying down a panel and claying. The whole time I'm thinking "wow! This stuff is much thicker than I remember" and "this bottle must have gone bad because it doesn't have a lot of lubricity." A few minutes in I remembered that my bottle of Opti-Bond Tire gel had cracked a while back and I grabbed an empty bottle and poured it in there but never changed the label that said Meguiars Final Inspection. Doh!

Here's one I made as well as others made back at Meguiar's in Irvine,

Meguiar's Quik Detailer and Meguiar's Quik Wax are both in maroon colored bottles. So it's easy to grab the wrong bottle if you're not paying attention. Here's the deal... if you use the Meguiar's Quik Wax, (a spray wax), with clay the liquid wax will try to dissolve the clay and make a gooey mess.

Here's a picture of me demonstrating claying on a Ferrari back in 2004 at on of the Saturday classes. Note I'm using the right product.

AT this particular class we had a Ferrari F40 from a local business owner. I did a demo on how to remove swirls and then let the class take over the rest of the car.

Came out nice...
