Have you guys seen the new BMW Frozen Gray Paint?

I *DO* live here, and I don't find it fitting at all.

It's a bunch of Techie Hipsters trying to 'be weird'. The only weird here is Leslie.

I also find "Live music capitol of the World" misleading. We don't have a venue in Austin big enough for the "arena" bands to come through. I don't care about the crap kicking, cowboy hat wearing hicks playing for their fan base of two playing down off 6th.

I've lived all over the US and the closest city to Austin would be Boulder, CO. Live Music Capital fits the idea of there being so many choices to go listen to live music. Live music doesn't only exist for the arena bands. In the full spectrum if things; Austin does happen to live up to each of these titles. As someone who has lived here off and on I continue to see the same distinction(s) over the years.

You're in the Round Rock area, right?

Actually, that should be the closest "weird" city in comparison to Austin would be Boulder.

Of course Arena rock isn't the only live music, but "in the full spectrum of things", if you have a place for the guy with 2 fans, but not the guy with 15,000 you're not (IMHO) the "Live Music Capitol of the World". You're also missing out on tons of revenue from big bands.

I've said it since I moved here and I continue to say it. Denver hands down has better venues and more artists visiting from out of state than Austin does. I used to go see Ska bands from the east coast for $8 any night of the week. I've done that precisely zero times since I've lived here (almost a decade now). They don't come "down" here, but they'll travel further West.

Probably for the same reason Phish hasn't been here in a decade, no good (and in this case large) venues.

Stubbs is ok, I see shows there regularly. Austin Music Hall is a joke! All bass because it's a big concrete tomb. They shouldn't legally be able to call that a music hall!

Also, Boulder is much WEIRDER than Austin to me. Being born and raised in Colorado I've been there many many times and I think the slogan belongs in Boulder, not here.

Yes, I live in RR.
