I have a 07 Yukon black, after extensive work on swirl marks I noticed a few areas that have a "haze" on them. These areas are spots that required a little extra attention. I'm using 105/205, some areas D151 with a variety of pads to get the desired results so I can't say for certain what exactly I used. My question is.....what causes this and whats it called? It's not the buffer trail holograms you see on some vehicles. It's the area that was worked so it appears square. Finish is great, but it's a "haze" if that makes any sense. And it's not all over. And I tried pics in different light, but no luck. Sorry all! Is this what "jeweling" the paint corrects?! Ok, thats like 4 questions in one post, sorry!

Could you have missed a spot with the finishing step? Usually hazing is from using an aggressive compound and pad to remove heavy defects. I think it would help if you told us what pads you used with the products, and what machine.

It's possible, although I am pretty certain any spots I hit with 105 I followed up with 205. Lake county orange pad and or megs pads. Primarily Megs maroon cutting pad, followed by their soft buff yellow pad. This is a bigger flat area...side of the door, so I am almost positive its megs 6.5" pads. I have most colors of the Lake 4" pads at my disposal also but have not used em on the big areas much. And its all with a Porter Cable 7424XP on speed 5.5 or 6.

I suppose it's possible you didn't spend enough time finishing some areas. It's odd that that combo would leave behind any hazing.

I was surprised to because the rest of the vehicle turned out great. This area has not been repainted or antying either. It's all factory paint. I think I'll hit it with 205 and a softer pad to see what that does. It's all been clayed and hit with dawn too. There shouldn't be anything on the paint/clear.

I've never been happy with M205's finish on black. Menzerna PO85RD via blue 5.5" LC CCS does however make me very happy!

:iagree: 205 left haze and marring on my black toyota highlander. Won't use it again on toyota paint. I used 106FA with a gray pad to clear it up.

Same with my black Camaro. 85rd with a gray Lake Country pad took care of it for me.

Thanks guys, I found the Menzerna 85RD in the store...how big of a bottle do ya get for $34.99?

Oh yeah, same here!! I had a heck of a time on my Dad's 1951 Mercury. It's repainted BC/CC but so soft it will scratch if you look at it the wrong way. Used 105, followed with 205 which left "micro marring" from what I was told when I posted pictures. It was Shane (CieraSL) that recommended Menz PO85RD to me with a gray CCS pad and it finished BEAUTIFUL with that combo.

Menzerna PO85RD for $34.99 is 32 oz (one quart). GOOD STUFF!!:dblthumb2:

Menz 85RD on order. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks all

I know 85rd is newer and probably better, but I always finish off my black car with FPII and have great results.

You're going to like this product. The most important reason... results. Long buffing cycle and easy wipe-off don't hurt.
