The media has no bearing on the game being HD or not. It's merely the storage space. That said, NONE of the 360's games are currently on HD-DVD. DVD only.

They have no choice. There is no other HD media and the 360 can't survive if the games aren't in HD.
Everything I've read about COD4 tells me to buy it now buy it now lol.Call of Duty 4 is unbelievable. Awesome game, very entertaining and engaging. I was blown away by the graphics on my new 1080p hi def TV.
The 360 drive is DVD format, and the games being put out for the 360 are HD. The big difference between the DVD and Blu-Ray is storage capacity -and games out now don't even utilize all the space on a standard DVD. I honestly don't think that MS is all that concerned about this, and IMO the game developers won't be able to fully utilize Blu-Ray technology until the next generation of consoles are produced in the upcoming years.
Are you guys using PS3 like a Blu-Ray movie player? Hooked up to home theater?
As graphics and gameplay improve, the limits of the DVD format will be exceeded rather quickly. I read an article on Yahoo that a spokesperson from MS pretty much said they were already planning the switch. Time will tell. I think sooner than later. It will just be about ego. Will MS admit defeat and get on with it, as Toshiba did?
Well, MS can't just start putting games on HD disks as that leaves out several million owners. Well, they could but I think it would be a bad idea.
You read a little far into that. It saying that they will be making a BD *add on* to replace the dead HD-DVD add on. No changes to the stand alone machine.
"Rumours were circulating today that Microsoft is set to dump HD DVD and bring out a Blu ray Xbox 360 by as early as May 2008. The move will allow the Company to go head to head with the Sony PS3 gaming console which has been credited with being one of the main reasons that retailers have preferred Blu-ray over Toshiba’s HD DVD."
Blu-ray Xbox 360 Planned By Microsoft - Smarthouse
I don't think that Sony has total control over Blu-Ray so I'm not sure that it's really up to them. But even if it were, Microsoft makes the operating system that Sony puts on all of its computers so I don't think that Sony will try to tell Microsoft what they can or can not do, just how much money they want. Can you imagine be the Sony Licensing Rep who has to sign that contract ! I suspect they may allow MS the use of Blu-ray in computers and such, but the Xbox could be a different story. They dont want direct competition with the PS3 no matter how much more powerful it is.
PS3 is a gaming console, Blue Ray player (one of the best on the market at that), and internet connection. For what you pay and what you get it is a win win situation imo. Thanks Killr. I had my eye on the Toshiba A3 @ Sears for 149 last weekend. Not now.
I'm not understanding all of the PS3 talk. Are you guys using PS3 like a Blu-Ray movie player? Hooked up to home theater?
The cost to deliver a PS3 is and has been down to ~$400 for a few months. It's still a KILLER solution to HD/multimedia at this point and it doesn't have a rival in this arena anywhere close to the price. You get lots for the money. It's also one of the best SD DVD upscaling units.
Unless hey fixed this in the very recent past, PS3 are noisey, which doesn't matter for games, but does for theater.

I think you got your machines crossed up. The original 60G and 20G machines were already quiet. The 80G got quieter and you can hardly tell the 40G is even on. The 360 on the other hand sounds like a jet taking off.Unless hey fixed this in the very recent past, PS3 are noisey, which doesn't matter for games, but does for theater.
my machine is dead quiet ... no noise to speak about. My only complaint is the slower load times. But man, the picture is out of this world.
