HD Speed - Review

Niiice, I just received my bottle of Speed today. Can't wait to try it after looking at peoples results on here!

I will be following it with HD poxy though.

Sounds great! Happy to hear this thread got you excited about trying Speed out :)

Ok you got me wondering too! I remember David Fermani from 3D/HD commenting on this very question over on Autopia earlier this year. Here's what he had to say: "Speed does not fill in the sense of masking or hiding defects. What it does is add extra gloss due to the wax content in it. Speed is a combination of HD Polish & HD Poxy."

The thread then got a little heated on the question of fillers in HD Poxy = Fillers in HD Speed. From reading it seems like the HD Polish portion of HD Speed takes care of the imperfections and then HD Poxy protects/helps to darken the paint.

From researching an answer to the above question, it seems 2 months is the average most have seen. If you recently applied WDGPS, keep it on for now and use HD Speed for your spring cleaning. :dblthumb2:

Nice review Angus!

The funny part about that thread you linked is that David himself shows it's ability to fill/hide/mask light defects, but then tries to say it only does that if it's used "incorrectly", which is funny. It's like the filling ability is there but the ingredients that fill know when you're using the product correctly or not...:dunno:

I have Speed and have used it on a few occasions now, even though it's not one of my offered services. Speed is definitely an excellent product and probably one of the best AIO's available right now. No doubt the product that is capable of some very good correction. My concern is, and always has been that I see lots of users pushing the level of correction with aggressive pads/tools and they aren't checking their work. While the product is correcting, those waxes and polymers aren't going anywhere and still have the potential to mask faint holograms or DA haze, which is why I get concerned when a user post results with a rotary and aggressive foam pad.

My suggestion is to simply do a quick test spot by stripping a section first to ensure it's fully finishing down, which is no different then you should be doing with any polish. My guess is 95+% of the time you'll have no issues. :props:

Good client recently stopped in on his way from Canada to a car show at Hendrick Motorsports and we gave the car a quick once over with Speed. :)

Nice review Angus!

Thanks, Chad! I admire your work and take the complement with pride :)

Also, you make a lot of sound points and I completely agree with you on checking your work/ making sure you're correcting/ the value of doing a test spot.

BTW -Your clients car looks great! Nice job :dblthumb2:

Glad you liked it!
I recently switched to it and loved the results on 5 different vehicles.
I also topped with HD Poxy. They claim 5-6 months of protection using both together. Time will tell as it was used on my winter vehicles that sit outside :dblthumb2:

Thanks, Monica!

My Civic also sits outside 24/7 but I topped it w/ the new version of BF Crystal Seal. Consider we both live in the same area we should do a HD Poxy Vs. BF Crystal Seal LSP longevity update every so often :)
