Headlight restoration splatter

When restoring headlights, what system do you prefer when sanding/polishing headlights? I think the Griot's Garage 3" polisher is ideal in size and power and would cut down the amount of splatter vs a rotary (drill). I've also sanded headlights by hand which takes a long time.

I use my Griot's 3" polisher all the time for headlights and taillights works great.

3M kit on a drill. And I don't even bother to polish after I sand. The "tooth" from the 3000 grit leaves just enough bite for the Minwax Spar Varnish to really grip the plastic.
