I went ahead and implemented some ideas you guys listed but it has been a while ago and I've added a lot of customer pictures, more FAQ's, Facebook button, and other what-nots. So what do you guys think about the layout, interest factor, browser display issues, and such?

Any suggestions/feedback is greatly appreciated.

Nice site. Since you asked... maybe consider changing the fonts, and the picture gallery takes too long to load. Maybe smaller picture file size or a better host for the site. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. I think I may resize the pictures in the near future for faster load times.

looks good, are you putting policoat or cquartz on them after theyre restored?

also, how come just headlights? theres a lot of $$ in paint correction too:P

i wish i could do headlights all day, not all that much work but u sure get paid for it:)

I'm using the Spar Urethane method which holds up well. I would love to do paint correction but that requires more products, experimentation (learning curve), time, and business competition. Headlight refinishing keeps most of that to a minimum, I'm passionate about it, and I can fit everything in my rolling tool bag.

Love the Website, I keep having issues with the Spar Urethane lately I keep getting a lot of streaks wondering whats your method g35 or how are you applying the Spar?, this has been happening on the car lot I do the headlights for

I'm having the same problem, are you using the Scott's Blue towels?

just to let you know I am mixing the stuff at my house before I leave to go work on a car whether its the car lot or a single customer I really don't want anyone knowing what I use for Headlight Sealant, but after mixing it I put it into a small 4 ounce applicator bottle and then when I need to use it I fold up my Blue Scotts towel and just pour it at the end of the towel then wipe it on, but lately not working out so well,

also thinking about it the sun has been brutal and today it was really windy these things must have an effect on how we apply the Spar Urethane Mix

I keep having hairs fall into mine.

First time I did mine I was looking closely and a hair fell on it!

I finally got around to re-doing it 3 months later and it happened again! I give up lol

I keep both products in tiny bottles and mix on the spot. That way I can go to a 2nd job and have a fresh mix. I only measure out a few bottles ahead of time or the urethane will brown and thicken (not airtight bottles) but the mineral spirits keep for a long time in my small containers. I am using the Scotts shop towels. Here is my method:

- Fold up shop towel and set half into cup so it will soak up the mix
- Meanwhile, wipe lens with mineral spirits and let it dry
- With saturated towel, quickly wipe entire lens in circular and side-side motion ensuring you get all the corners and edges
- Beginning from top, make slow and final side-side wipes to spread out initial application

This may not always give a streak-free finish but it most definitely guarantees you don't miss any spots. Shake out the shop towel before use and I always cut mine in half instead of tearing it to minimize towel "fuzz".

Thanks for the advice, will definitely try your method out tomorrow and let you guys know as well:xyxthumbs:

Did it work out for you Louie?
Yes it did, I have been pretty busy sorry I didnt get back to this thread earlier.

I did cut my towel in half and instead of folding into a small piece I folded it to almost the size of my four fingers and let it sit in the cup with the mix, I used two separate bottles for the Spar Urethane and the Mineral Spirits like g35 did and mixed it on the spot, using the bigger applicator/towel that I made was a lot easier to put on, I went from side to side over lapping 50% didnt use the circular motion though, over all I haven't had a problem maybe a small streak from time to time but they seem to dissipate after the mix dries
I used these 1 oz cups to Measure
1oz-measuring-cups.html
1 oz. Measuring Cups

and these 4 oz bottles to carry the Spar and the Mineral Spirits in
black-4oz-bottle.html
Black 4 oz. Bottle with Flip Cap
buy these right from AG
hope that helps guys good luck

Site looks good Dave. As mentioned, the pic loading time is very long. Good before & after pics though.

I read where you offer a small sample of UV protectant and a microfiber cloth to all customers. What brand & size is the UV protectant? I'd like to include that as well. The microfiber cloths I can get in bulk cheaply at Costco.

I've done a few headlights using the same method. Did a Nissan 300Z and Lexus SUV (both 2005 models) for a customer yesterday - customer was so impressed he paid a $30 tip. :xyxthumbs:

I'm working on my web-site which is a combination of PDR and headlight restoration. Also offering a 12 month guarantee not to fade on the headlights. Web-site should be fully up in the next week or so - I'm still building it offline at home.

Cheers,
