For headlight restoration,

After sanding.....
what compound and pad combination do you guys use?

I been using meg 105 and 205 with LC orange and white pad, but I had couple cases when I couldnt get rid compound haze with 205 + LC white pad combo.

also anyone tried meg's 3" easy buff knitted wool pad for headlights?
 
Since moving to the DP All In One Headlight Restoring Polish I havent sanded SQUAT. Ive done some pretty bad ones that I figured I would have to sand but NOPE.

No more sanding for me.

Your statement just about convinced me to try it.^

What's your method of attack? Polisher, pads and what size do you use? Thx in advance.
 
I use a 3" bp on my Dewalt drill. With usually a 3 or 4" LC flat orange pad. Once in a while I will use a LC CCS yellow and have yet to need to bust out the purple foamed wool.

I don't have a rotary, but I do have a 3" backing plate and those same 3" LC Orange Flat Foam Pads.

I had never heard of this AIO headlight polish until now. You've made a believer out of me. Thanks again:)

Try a wool pad for the initial cut with 105 then finish down with 205 On a foam pad.

wow that DP AIO looks awesome, time to add it to the wish list.... I been thinking to get a 3" BP and pads to do some headlight resto
 
IMO the longevity of any headlight protectant spray largely depends on your location/ time of year. Given I'm going into winter, I'll expect this application to last a good 6 months before I'll need to reapply it so the headlights don't start to yellow. Once summer heats up and with it the amount of UV rays - the protectant spray will degrade much faster and I'll need to keep up on it more frequently.

Overall Opti-lens will offer better longevity but at a premium price. I guess it comes down to how often you want to reapply the protectant?
 
how do u think something like Optiseal would do for the protectant?

I'd say it will be somewhere along the same lines as DP's Headlight Protect Spray since they're both spray sealants. If you already own Optiseal, use it. If not, DP's spray is less expensive and was designed to work with DP's AIO.

that's what I was thinking, just wasn't sure if maybe the DP spray had something "special" in it....I got plenty of Optiseal :props:
 
How would you rate Meguiars Headlight Protectant in comparison to the products you've mentioned? It's what I have on hand, and what I'd hope to use.

I am using Opti Coat 2.0 for restored headlights. I have not used Opti-Lens by my guess is that the product is similar in price and application.

While coatings are very expensive, you only need a few drops for each headlight. So a tube will last you for probably 30 vehicles or more. Not that expensive when you look at it that way.

I will have to try this DP AIO polish for sure. What would you guys guess is the average work time to do a pair of headlights using this product?

Since you already have it on hand I say go for it! You could also share the results and durability updates with the forum :)
