How bad is the headlight?
How bad are the water spots?

I know guys that have used M105 for water spots on glass but it doesn't work that well as compared to other types of abrasives.

As for headlights, same thing, will it work? Sure but a product more designed for abrading neglected plastics versus working on clear coats.

A rotary buffer works better for both procedures and your hand can actually work really well to because you can exert a lot of pressure to just your fingertips whereas with a DA Polisher all the pressure is going to be spread out over the entire face of the foam pad and because it has a Free Floating Spindle Assembly if you push too hard or more pressure is applied to just a portion of the face of the pad the pad will stop rotating and you won't do anything.

Removing defects with a DA polisher is all about keeping the pad rotating.


I've removed a lot of water spots off glass having detailed cars professionally in Oregon most of my life so I have a little bit of experience on the topic. I've also buffed just about every known type of plastic to mankind.

For the windshield I have used DP High Performance Glass Restorer with my Flex Light Weight Rotary and a Green LC Polishing pad and it has been able to remove all water spots or discoloring I have throne its way.

For Headlights Wolfgang Deluxe Plastik Lens Cleaning Kit
works great. I would recommend using these products with a rotary buffer or high speed drill.

If you already have the m105, then definitely try it first before spending more money on something else (it's not going to cost you anything to try). I have had great results removing moderate water spots on glass w/ m105 and a light cutting pad. If the plastic lenses around your headlights are yellowed, or oxidized then consider a headlight restoration kit like 3M headlight restoration kit, it's cheap and works very well. I'll see if I can find a couple of pics. (before/after) of the kit in action...

I've never used megs pads, but I would try to use the equivalent of a 5.5" Orange LC (light cutting pad) on the windshield and windows, and 4'' equivalent on lenses ...
