Headlights restoration? What is ur method?

I just did a Jetta. 1500-2000 wetsand.

Whenever we get a dealer car, we do the headlights for no charge as a bonus for them.

My process is:
1. Tape (I hate cleaning twice)
2. Wetsand. (On these headlights, I could see that I sanded down all of the hazing during wet sanding)
3. Compound (I use a medium cut silicone based compound, and I apply it to the lens directly and spread it around with my fingers)
4. Buff (I use a low speed and almost no pressure, I also use a wool pad on a 9 in rotary)
5. Level and buff again (I use a glaze to level. M205 seems to work but I use cheaper for the headlights, plus I've had experiences with M205 getting cake-y when it gets hot)

Quick question pal, since the headlights are OFF the vehicle.
How do you wet sand / polish them?
Like do u put it on a stand where it is holding them up for you to do your work?

I use the GG3 with 3' Sanding discs. Go from 600, 800, 1000, 1500. Then I put a cutting pad on with some M101. After that I use a blue polishing pad with M205. Then seal it with headlight protection.

What sealant are you and the rest using? WGDGP? DP? Opti? Black Label?

I'd like to add that you don't always have to sand them down, some headlights can be just buffed out.

As always do a test spot and you can save yourself some time.

The least aggressive method can also save you some time. Just my 2 cents.

My Fav hands down is the 3M kit.

Agree! I tried to correct without sandpaper and works just fine!

Just got around to doing a headlight correction on moms rx300. 3" orange hex logic pad using megs ultimate compound and then m205. Impressive! And so simple!

This is true. To an extent I feel. If the headlight has light to mild oxidation compound and buffing will work just fine. However, if there is med to heavy oxidation I feel the only way is to wet sand. Sure the easy approach, using compound and buffing, would probably work on heavy oxidation but I'd imagine it would take forever and you would be cleaning your pad every min.
