So I've been doing a bunch of research on these threads about various coatings and polymer-based sealants. I ultimately would like to try Opti-Coat 2.0, but is too pricey for me at the moment (maybe in the near future). And I was going to try the Zaino Z2-Pro system with Zaino Z-8. But got really interested in the WOWA products. So after all the research and comparisons around UPGP, Opti-Seal, Zaino CS, WG Liquid Seal, I've decided to try my hand at BF Crystal Clear...

...but had several questions and am hoping any BFCS users could help out as I'll be doing this on my daily drivers as well as on some family members' cars (I'm not a professional doing this as a business but more of an enthusiast that could make a little $$ on the side :) ). So after I do my paint correct (Clay/M101/M205 with a PC, and yes I know there are other options for polish but...):

1. Is there any benefit to looks and durability by sealing first with BF Wet Diamond then topping it with BF Crystal Seal?
2. If so, should I do multiple coats of each?
3. Is BF Wet Diamond Polymer Spray a good QD? Any other recommedations for use with BF Crystal Clear
4. Has anyone topped the BF Crystal Clear with a carnuaba wax (I'm thinking of doing this with P21S 100% to primarily for warmth and depth)? What are your thoughts?

Once I complete the detai on my car, I plan on fully utilizing my car cover - even at work! Thanks in advance for any feedback. I'll be sure to post before/after pics as well as feedback on looks and durability (both short-term and long-term)

Car in line for detail:
2006 BMW 325i Arktis Metallic (my DD)
2001 MB ML320 Dark Maroon (wife's DD)
2006 BMW 750i Jet Black (DD)
2001 MB C230 Jet Black (DD)
1992 BMW 325i Alpine White (DD)

you might try asking on autopiaforums.com, as that is the sister site of autogeek dedicated to blackfire products.

As a Blackfire fan myself, I'll try to help with your questions:

1. In my experience, there would be no real difference in durability/looks if you were to forgo the BFWD under the CS.
2. You can do multiple coats of CS, but I would give about 24 hrs between coats to give the CS a chance to cure fully.
3. This is my favorite post-wash spray, it really brings back that "slickness" that is felt with a fresh coat of sealant. It's also boosted with Polycharger so it's a little more durable than most QDs.
4. I usually top BFWD and CS with Blackfire Midnight Sun, it gives a nice "glow" to the paint afterwards.

Hope this helps! :xyxthumbs:

BFCS flashes in 45 minutes, not 12-24 hrs, so you can layer a 2nd or 3rd coat back to back to back. I would lay down a hand applied coat of sealant and then multiple coats of BFCS as it makes the paint look fake, in a good way, I still shake my head when I look at my car after this stuff has flashed, UNBELIVABLE!

As far as I know, no other WOWA product flashes in 45 minutes and what's nice about this product inparticular is you can top it with a nuba/sealant w/o a problem, so if you have persay a sealant on the car and wanna change the look, apply a coat of BFCS and lay down your favorite nuba w/o a problem.

All of this! Excellent post.

I love Crystal Seal! Put it on after polish, then wax with BF Midnight sun for a great wet look. Poly Spray you can use after every other or so washes and it "amps" the shine back up. I use mostly BF products and love them.

You are correct about the flashing times of CS. Forgive me, it's been quite the long day, so my mind was still stuck on BFWD

Great info! Because I'm on a tight budget, I think I'll do multiple coats of the BFCS with BFWD Polymer Spray as durability and that glassy look are priority. Don't know how much warmth I can pull out of my light greyish/blue bmw with a nuba. My father-in-law has a bottle of Meg Gold Class Nuba laying around somewhere that I can test with. I can definitely see topping with a nuba on darker cars tho. Another thing that's great that turned me on to BFCS is that I can use it on trim/lights/window/rim etc.

I also checked out Autopia, man there's alof of info specific to BF on there! Thanks you guys!

Didn't bother with a coat of any polish after I stripped my car with Dawn and CarPro's Iron-X Soap Gel. Applied one coat of Blackfire Crystal Seal, waited a few minutes, (think it was less then the forty-five minutes).
Then applied a coat of Chemical Guys E-zyme Natural Paste Wax on top of the Crystal Seal. Came out looking great. Even without any polish. :xyxthumbs:

Now I wonder if there are any actual benefits to use a wax from BF such as the BF Midnight Sun since they all have the same tri-polymer system and that all they're products were made to work with each other or if that's just a marketing gimick. Hmmm?

The benefits of using MS or another 'nuba wax are in the looks department, rather than durability. I personally like the softer, glowing look of MS over BFWD, but some prefer the "harder", slick look. It depends on what you think looks best.

Since ya got a lot of good advice on your sealant ?, I'll give you another unsolicited piece of advice.....

Don't use the car cover. It'll cause more scratches/marring than it's worth

I get great action out of the following schedule:
1. BF total polish and seal first to clean the paint
2. two coats BF CS 2-3 hours apart
3. Wash with Duragloss Rinseless....more CS every 2 -3 months....

Well the advanatage to using BFMS after BFCS would be to change the look, some might not like the extreme gloss that BFCS leaves behind, like I said it looks almost fake, but in a good way IMO. So applying BFMS would tone down the finish left behind by BFCS and give that natrual glow and also give you an additional layer of protection.

As far as the car cover, it has a micro-fiber fleece lining that's made to not scratch the car. So it could depend on how carefully I place it on and take it off. I'd use it at home as I'm usually on the driveway, and with random dust and pollen in the evening mixed with that early morning dew...eehh.

I'm thinking 2-3 coats of BF CS and trying to maintain with BF WD Polymer Spray as my QD/Polymer boost to help keep up protection. I also have 2 bottles of ONR that I could dilute into a QD. And of course proper wash method will help reduce swirls. I get the point as far as topping with a 'nuba. So after the 2-3 coats of CS have fully cured, I'll see how it looks and apply a 'nuba if needed...I mean it wouldn't do any harm anyways. With all the cars I've detailed, I've never used a paste 'nuba. It's usually been just sealants...hmmm...interesting fact.

I'm assuming that BF CS has no scratch/swirl resitant qualities like the Opti-Coat 2.0...unless BF comes us with a new nano-coating product in the near future!!

Does car cover have any "sprockets" or similar?

IMHO and only my opinion is i'd rather deal with pollen and dew unless I had 4 people help put it on and take it off.

again, IMHO offers false sense of security and maybe even an attractive problem to nosey on lookers or people who are jealous

please just remember, its just my opinion
