the correct way of doing things is the way that gets the results you want and that you feel comfortable doing. all the advice people give and videos you see is what works best for that person. use them has guide lines and find you own technique. when i first learned how to run a rotary all the dealership had was a wool pad and foan fininshing pad but 4 different polishes/compounds. once i got the basics down and felt comfortable i start using the less aggressive polishes with the foam pad for not so bad correction in 1 step instead of using the 2 step process of compunding then polish like i was taught to do. everyone at dealership said i was waisting time cause it would not work. well after some practice my results were better and faster than "thier" way of doing it. there really is no 1 way to do anything. and like i said i have a PC and DeWalt rotary if you want to practice. i should be able to get ahold of some body panels for you to practice on from the body shop i use to work at.

Welcome to Autogeek Online!

That's true, especially when it comes to detailing as there's a lot of great products on the market and everyone is different.

and like i said i have a PC and DeWalt rotary if you want to practice.

Take him up on his kind offer. Learning from someone that already knows what they're doing will flatten out your learning curve dramatically.
