Hello from Northern Illinois. I'm not a detailer just a nut about my 2000 BMW Z-3.

I bought the car last year and stored it for the winter. In cleaning it for the spring I noticed a couple of spots where the touch up paint has darkened\. (The factory paint is sienna red).

I think that I have attached two pictures of the bad touch up paint.

I'm wondering if using the Langka Blob Eliminator could remove the touch up paint so that I could do the job correctly.

I'd appreciate any advice.
Thanks,

Jeff

Welcome Jeff, I'm Elk Grove Village and good luck with that spot, never heard of that product so I can't comment on it but good luck nonetheless.

Love the 2000 Z3! It's worth a try, I was considering it for my car as well.

Hey Jeff, I'm from Chicago also.

I agree with drbll, you may have to wet sand. Also looks as if you may need to buy new factory paint to refinish those spots.

Good luck!

Welcome to the Geek Jeff! Nice to have you join!

Hi,
If you have the Langka product on hand, do try it, if not, then the Langka should work, as well as the Doctor ColorChip Sealact Liquid.

As I understand it, basically all touch up paints are laquer. The Langka, and Dr C Chip Sealact Products I gather are some form of Laquer Reducer, or other similar petro-chemical.

While you might have to rub and rub, either of these products should work, pose a much less danger to the surrounding clearcoat paint, and they will not harm the factory paint.

Yes, wetsanding will also work, but one has to be extremely careful.

I would say between the two, the Langka is a little bit more agressive.

I know this as fact, because I have indeed done this on my own white Tahoe pictured in my avatar, correcting previously, and somewhat poorly done touch up with over the counter products like Dupicolor Touch Up Paints.

As for then again re0diong these spots, I do highly recommend the Dr ColorChip Touch up Kit. It is simple to use, virtually mistake proof, and even if you make a mistake, you can take the Sealact Solution, remove a previous bad attempt, and start again.

I like the Dr C Chip system better than the Langka, easier to work with, and to perfectly level any excess tough up paint.

Thanks for all the replies and welcomes!

I think I'm going to try the Langka product and then Dr. Colorchip. I have some other small chips that I can use it on also.

GenisisCoupe, I'm in West Dundee.

I wasn't planning on having the time to do this project but since my Blackhawks went down again tonight it may be a short playoff season and I'll have more time than I want!

Ah West Dundee i see..Welcome!

As for your touch up paint issue, you may have to wet sand. Last time i worked on a vehicle with a bad touch up job, the surface leveled after clay/polish and it was very minimum
