Hello everyone,

My name is Daniel and I am from the Jacksonville, Florida area. I found AutoGeek while I was looking for a good DA orbital polisher. I will be purchasing the Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital Polisher in the next few days and hopefully it lives up to everything I've read about it. I was initially just going to get the polisher and 2 pads for it but I was able to talk my boss (a.k.a. my wife) into letting me get the Griot's polisher and wax kit from AG.

This is the package I was looking at...

I hope to be polishing my wife's truck by this weekend :buffing:

I'll be posting some before and afters so I can get some input also.

WELCOME!!! Fellow Jax detailer here! Definately get extra pads. I probably have 40+ pads at the moment. They don't last forever and it's good to know you can trash one if it's bad or demote it down to household use or headlights etc....

Where abouts Jax are you located?

I'm actually just West of Jacksonville in Baker County. I'm only getting an orange and a red pad for now until I can get more later.

What DA do you use?

Where in Jacksonville are you located? I grew up there.
 
Maclenny! cool man. I know a few folks out that way. I live near Kernan. Born here in Jax, moved to St Aug when I was a teenager, then moved back to Jax after school.

Keep in mind, each polishing step (one full trip around the car) usually requires 3-5 pads. If you just use one pad, you should clean the pad approx. every other panel.

Thanks for the info. I guess I never noticed that in any of the articles / write ups I've seen.

I'll be taking some pictures of the victim...I mean project car prior to me starting cleaning it up. Dub, what is the best way to clean thr Griot's (or any other) pads? I think the Griot's stuff I am getting is supposed to wash out with water. Do you know anything about that?

Also I was wondering about Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Is it any good? Any tips I can get would be very helpful. I've looked around allot on AG and there is almost too much information hehe.

Well I ordered my Griot's 6" this morning and it's been almost 9 hours and no confirmations if it's even been received.... I've been anxiously waiting to order and get it. It almost feels like I've been waiting for Christmas and now I'm wondering if santa even got my letter :confused:
