My name is Rickey and i am definitely new to the detailing game. I own a 05 srt4 that is black and in need of some attention for sure. That's what brought me to this forum. I had my car repainted in march of this year and while the paint job wasn't the best, it could have looked alot better if he would have brought the shine out in the paint. Instead there were horrible swirls,scratches, and burn marks in the paint from what looked like a non-experienced rotary user in a hurry. I didn't want to deal with the guy again so i decided to try and do the best i can on my own. I have tried a meguiars paint recovery kit and i really did improve some test areas by hand but still have swirls and i would much rather use a DA instead of my arms until they are wore out. I'm hoping i can find some useful information from you guys on here!:dblthumb2:

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. just a question for you guys. I purchased a Griots DA in an awesome deal from a website for 94 bucks shipped. Now i"m on the search for the correct compounds and polishes to help my daily driver look its best and bring out the shine to the best of my abilities (and with the help from you guys of course). i have been reading like crazy on here and other forums to try and figure the best combination of compounds and polishes. i was going to purchase the meguiars ultra polish kit and then changed to the decision of the menzerna's kit. Then i read from several guys even on here that maybe a combination of the 2 would work best. i"m so confused! lolol then there are the pad selections and how many to have and what company makes the best one. Then there is the decision on what type of pads to use with what compounds and polishes. It's definitely alot to take in. Also been looking into the Klasse sealants instead of waxes or a combination of both and what to do? Sorry for all the questions guys. lolol

Yep, sad to say that's the norm for both the body shop industry and the production detailing industry and definitely the normal type of work you get at dealerships.

Welcome, and if I wasn't swapped I'd come and help ya since I love the srt4 :) There are a ton of great compounds and aggressive polishes for the major part of the correction but for sure I'd have pinnacles advanced finishing polish with a jeweling pad as your last step of polishing, as I seem to have the best luck with it on resprayed black panels.
 
Yeah perfections I've outfitted my srt4 with the bigger mopar stage 3 turbo and pretty much every bolt on except for heads and cams. still stock bottom end with 110,000 miles on her and she drives great. The last time i dynoed her she was 386hp/448ft.lbs. @ the wheels before i did my last few mods to her. she should be around 400/460 or so @ the wheels now and still gets 25mpg .The main reason i came to this forum is to get the best possible advice to make my little sleeper look as fast as she is. I do appreciate the offer though on the help. I completely understand about being swamped. I work offshore every other week and the week that I'm home I've got to play catch up on family time, car time, and then every other chore and errand that i have to do. I'm just gonna have to make time to make my car look good again.


Btw; thanks for the advice on the products. Now i have to find the correct place to make my first official post on here and ask advice on which products i should use as a noobie with a new griots da. lol

I'm new myself, but welcome!... I really enjoy modified cars. I wanna see some pics of this thing once you get it nice and pretty, lol
