I am new at this stuff, but I have been reading and watching videos trying to decide if I should get a DA. I may have some questions once I get a better understanding of what they can do.

Get a DA. You won't be disappointed. And Welcome to AGO

Welcome!!! I bet its hot there like Atlanta!!

YES on the DA - one of the best purchases I have made

:welcome: If you are serious about making your paint look great and keeping it that way then go for the DA. Go ahead and ask questions, everybody here loves to share their info and experiences.

First things first; :welcome: To Autogeek Online

This link contains articles written by Mike Phillips and has allot of great reading within. Mike has many well written articles and I'm sure you'll find them informative and useful.

Articles by Mike Phillips

Basic steps in order are:

  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Paint Correction & Polish
  • Seal
  • Wax
Make detailing enjoyable and practice. Take your time and do not become overwhelmed. Just because there are a thousand product doesn't mean you have to use them all.

Pick one product from each category from the steps above. You already have some great waxes so you're that far ahead of the game..

Autogeek has a kit section that contains everything you need to get started. For starting off I recommend a dual action polisher. These come on a variety of flavors and Autogeek carries most of them so take your time and educate yourself.

The kit pages below will give you an idea of what's available but if you do decide to purchase a Porter Cable 7424 style polisher opt for the 5 1/2" flat pads right off. The 6 1/2" are just too large and this has been confirmed many times over.

Decent kit

Pinnacle Twins & Meguiar's G110v2 Dual Action Polisher Kit FREE BONUS

Much better kit

Menzerna Porter Cable XP Maximum Shine Kit FREE BONUS

Flex Kit

If I were in the market for a kit this would be the one I'd choose.

Pinnacle Flex XC3401 Polishing & Swirl Remover kit, Pinnacle polishes, swirl removers, finishing polish, flex buffer

Welcome to AG
Before I started here the previous buffer I owned was a 10" orbital that I got from Sears for about $40. This was about 10 years ago, and I'm not knocking the buffer because it still works, but it is light years removed from what is available today. You won't regret purchasing a DA from here at Autogeek, they will make you realize how much of a difference a good machine can amp up the finish on your car. Good luck, and let us know how you're making out.

Welcome to AGO

Get a DA, it makes things so much easier!

Thanks for all the feedback. After lots of reading and watching video, I have decided to get a DA and to go with the Meguiar's. I have had good results with their products by hand and when I had problems, their service responses were very good.

Now I guess I wait for them to be in stock again.

(A sale or free shipping special about that time would be nice, too.)
