Greetings,

I own a '09 Mustang GT - and the color is Raven Black. It has been kept indoors and only drivin for 250 miles. I had washed the car about every other month with one of those Commerical Lazer Jet Car washes. And I dried the car off when I got it home real quick. Just the other day I decided to was the car myself. Used the 2 bucket - Special Auto soap - Dried it down the best I could. Then I noticed someting on the upper body of the car. Mostly located above the deck line and along the rear sections of the car. Very small and very numerious etched Type I and II water spots. You have to look really hard and at a certain angle to see them. I do have some very minor RIDS and swearls on the front hood too.

I want to get rid of these blimishes. I've bought a PC and pad kit from AGOL and I already have various chemicals from Megular's (Swearl-X, Scratch-X- Crystal 3 step, tec...)

What would be my best angle of attack on these defects? I don't think I need to PC the whole car. Just the upper half. Least aggrissive compound? Orange CS pad? White CS pad? Maybe just a simple once over with a polish?
Plasae let me know your thoughts?

Thanks

Start with the least aggressive method first. Since you said you have Swirl-X I would use that with a White LC pad. If it does not remove the etchings then move up to Ultimate Compound and Orange LC Pad. Ultimate Compound and LC Orange Pad should be able to remove most is not all the etching.

While removing water spots I have notices some are really easy to remove while other take more time. Some require a rotary and wool pads to remove completely.

If you have M105 and M205 I would suggesting using those over Ultimate Compound and Swirl-X. M105 is a bit more aggressive the Ultimate Compound and M205 finishes done nice then Swirl-X.

Make a test spot and see what works. Once you find a process that works in that one area you can apply the same process over the whole car and get the same results.

Thanks for your quick reply and advice!

I was thinking for the removing of the water spots - would a 2 3/4" circ BP and LC orange or LC yellow spot buff pads with a cicular BP adapter for a hand drill be a good start for this? I guess I could start like you say with the least aggrissve first and work up from there?
