Hi to all. My name is Dana and I live just outside of Boston, MA. I have a 2008 BMW 335 xi and a 2008 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab. Both vehicles are black. We have had over 7 feet of snow this winter and a lot of sand and salt on the roads. I know I will have my hands full when the weather turns warmer in keeping these vehicles looking their best. I am looking for advice on purchasing equipment and materials.

Black is one of the more difficult colors to work on so you will definitely have your hands full. I have an 06 Avalanche that is also black.
What do you have for equipment or materials? Just products or are you looking to get a polisher as well? What's your background when it comes to detailing? Do you know the proper techniques etc?
The site can be over whelming with everything they offer. So, start by answering some of the questions I just asked and I and others can point you in the right direction. I'd start by reading some of the articles by Mike Phillips and watching some of the videos. That will give you an idea of proper techniques etc.

I am not a professional detailer, but I am somewhat obsessed with vehicles an like to see results. I have been using Zymol products applied by hand. I am looing to buy a machine, most likely a DA from my research on the site. The assortment of waxes and polishes and compounds is definately overhwelming. I'm sure, with a little research, videos and help from you members, that I will get great results. Any and all advice is welcome.
