Hi guys! I am a long time Autogeek customer but recently found out about this forum.:xyxthumbs: I am 18 and bought a 1989 560 SEC mercades and it needs some love. I tried to take some of the most unflattering pics of the paint that I could inorder for you to see the condition of it.

Basically this was me :buffing: Even multiple attempts with the 202 Meguires cutting polish and a Grito's 6' orbital…. Nothing so I am a little frustrated and am intimidated by wet sanding Feed back please Thanks guys! Hope to be around for a while:xyxthumbs:
 
Back in 89 if you were rolling that car, it meant you mean business. Still a very nice car!

You neeed Meg's 105 and 6.5" Surbufs and one or two orange pads
 
im sorry I ment 105 I also used the orange pads.. still it looks like that.

WOW thanks guy! I used that 105 with the Cyan pad and im just spinning my wheels..... My guess is wet sanding is in my future..

Do you mean M205 Ultra Polish?

If so that's a fine to ultra fine polish and for the condition of the paint we all see in the pictures you need either a medium cut polish or a true compound.

Don't wetsand this old car you'll put yourself at risk of removing too much paint either during the sanding process or the sanding and ALL the machine buffing steps after the sanding process.

Just get a great medium cut polish or compound and some thin foam cutting pads and try again...

Also, this is the "intro" forum group, you'll get a lot more and better replies about detailing to post in an appropriate forum with a good title for your subject....
