Hi my names Steve, I've been lurking around for awhile but this is my first post. I've been detailing cars on the side for quite awhile and I thought I was really good until I saw guys like Mike Phillips, Renny Doyle etc...
Since then I'm only doing my cars until I'm satisfied with the end result.
I plan to replace most of my chemicals (currently using detail king) and some of my equipment but I know NOTHING about wg, dp, pinnacle etc... and would appreciate any help.

Right now I'm trying to decide which swirl remover, finishing polish, sealants and waxes to buy and I'm also looking for new pads for a pc 7424xp. Ill be working on a "red hot metallic" vibe gt and a "sunfire metallic" mustang gt. I'm sure there are recommendations or comparisons on this site but I haven't found them yet.

:welcome: to a great detailing forum.

:welcome: To Autogeek Online Steve! :xyxthumbs:

I've copied and pasted this from another thread I replied to. I've added links to some great products that I use therefore can recommend...

This link contains articles written by Mike Phillips and has allot of great reading within.

Articles by Mike Phillips

Basic steps in order are:

  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Paint Correction & Polish
  • Seal
  • Wax
Dual Action Polisher

Having the right tools for the job always the best way to start. 5 1/2" diameter pads are the largest pad size I recommend for use with Porter Cables 7424 polisher.

1. - Working with a dual action polisher

2. - Backing plate, and pads

Polishes

Meguiar's is one of the biggest names in detailing products and have been around. Life for them began in 1901 so this should give you some idea of their quality. Here are two over the counter products that work incredibly well.

Another option is Meguiar's Microfiber DA Correction System.

I did like a few of their products but i was unimpressed overall, and when i had a problem they were little help. The normal response was " it should work ".

I had nothing to compare it to because it was all i used, not making that mistake again...

Hi Steve,

I've added your name to the roll call list here,

Roll Call - What's your real first name?

I would recommend starting a dedicated thread outside of the "intro forum group" and post any questions you may have or recommendations and if you write a good title for your subject you'll get lots of answers.

A tip to help yourself get great answers when you start a thread
