Hey everyone, Keith here. I go by my ECKO, my nickname given to me when I was 8 years old.

Anyway, I am not new to detailing. I am really OCD about my cars but I've never really got into the polishing aspect, which is why I am here. I am trying to gobble up as much information as I can to learn the proper way to do it. I just ordered a PC 7424XP, Lake County 3" & 5"backing plates, Lake County cutting and polishing pads, Chemical guys V36 & V38, Menzerna SF4500, JetSeal 109 and V7 Sealant spray, Iron X , AeroSpace 303, Sonax window cleaner, Maguire's clay as well as some more microfibers from my goto place at theragcompany.com. For the price I feel their Waffle weave and blue edgeless, are as good as most mf's out there, including the Zaino borderless blonde.

I am 38, with kids. My eldest graduates high school and I'm getting her ready for college. I also have a 16 year old, who just got her first car and a 11 year old son.

I drive over a hour for work so I bought a '14 Hyundai Veloster 1.6T to save on gas mileage and I really enjoy the car but it has some crazy angled body panels. It looks like it will be a pain to polish so I am looking for some information on how to do that. If anyone has tips on that please feel free to give me your tips and tricks.

Other than that, I am glad to be here. I have been a AG.com customer for several years but just now looking at the forum. I am not new to forums so I know how most of the rules go. Just happy to be here and learn from guys/gals with more polishing knowledge than me.

I've attached a pic of my Veloster from a meet in Cleveland last summer. Mine is Boston Red on the end. As we speak I've got my headlights cracked open to upgrade all the LEDs, and paint the inner bezels. Should look great when they are done.

Sorry for the long post. Everyone have a great day.

Welcome Keith,
I live in Cleveland Heights, so we're probably not too far if you should ever need or want help.
By the way, nice looking car. Was that picture taken in the Metro Parks?

W.elcome, I'm from NE Ohio too, Akron area

I'm in Ashtabula County so I am around 1 hour from you but today that's just a hop & skip away. The picture was indeed taken in the Metro Parks. First time I had been there and it had some nice windy roads when we took a cruise.

Nice. My Stepson goes to Akron and my Bro-in-law lives there so my wife and I head up there quite often to visit them.

Oh yeah, you're not supposed to post a link to a competitor's site. Since you're new, I doubt you'll be tarred and feathered :D

You know what, I never thought about it like that...Was just excited to throw out all the products I just bought for my polishing endevours. Sorry everyone. Looking for the edit button in my original post...looking...looking...not seeing it....why am I not seeing it? Lol.

I am not sure who moderates so if I can't fix my original introductory please by all means remove that linkage.

Welcome from Geneva!

Now Geneva is a name I can get with. My parents live there so I frequent very often. Very nice day we are having so far, huh? Too bad I will be going to bed shortly for work.

Lol I'm in middlefield right now and it's raining! But yes today was awesome until then!

Hey Keith,

Welcome. Nice car, the Veloster was actually in the running for my next
vehicle, they're pretty sweet looking. I settled on a Kia Soul + in Inferno Red, the deal was too good to pass up. How's she been treating you. Can't beat that color. Take care.

Peace,

Darrin

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Looks like a good community here. Glad to be here and learn from everyone and maybe share if I can.

Thanks, Darrin.

My Veloster has been good to me. No issues with it but Hyundai has had issues with the turbo's in these cars and have given people with mods some troubles with warranty claims but we all know once you modify your car you open yourself up to that. So when people cry about getting denied I can't say I feel sorry for them. They knew what could happen.

I have done a few things...I have a very modest tune done. Nothing hardcore. Other than that I have a magnaflow catback, 3.5" intake that is wrapped with DEI header wrap to keep the aluminum pipe cool, swapped out my intercooler pipe with a aftermarket one and Synapse BOV....Other than that for suspension I have a strut bar, rear torsion bar and rigid collars. My modded headlights should be done within a few weeks so looking forward to that.

The Veloster is not a speed demon..With my mods and tune I would say I am around 260 HP but I have not been dyno'd. Just going by what the tuner assumed I should be at. Whether I am a bit less than that I don't care. I'm not into racing. I just like to have fun with my car. Not bad for a little subcompact hatch....It's fairly light too so it is quick...Stock, It's not in the same class as like the Ford Focus St or anything, even though people like to try to put it there...It's been a nice little fun car but I mainly bought if for my commute and the tune was mainly for a increase in MPG...I went from 31 mpg highway avg to around 36-38 with my tune which is nice...Of course if I get on it a little and boost I am around 29-30 mpg highway...

And thanks for the color compliment. Funny most of the people on the VT forum don't like the Boston Red. It's the least bought. They like the Ebony White. It's a nice Pearl but my Kia Optima SX was Snow White Pearl and it grew old. I'm a good ol' Buckeyes fan so the Boston Red w/ gray sideskirts grew on me quick when I saw it. :)
