Hello everyone!

Long time Autogeek customer and I've been browsing and collecting invaluable information from the forum over the years and figured it's time to become a part of this amazing community!

I'm originally from Southeast MI and grew up around gravel trains, working on them and cleaning them. I maintained several for my fathers gravel train company, and boy do I wish I had the knowledge then that I do now. From 2012-2014 I operated a small detailing business in Charlevoix, MI. Currently I'm in Marquette, in the UP while my wife finishes her last year of schooling, but will be moving back down to Charlevoix in the spring.

I hope to be able to contribute some of my knowledge and am eager to learn more from everyone here.

Some goodies I picked up for spring:

Welcome to AGO! Gravel Trains? Is that what I think it is? That must be a lot of work!! Sweet ride too. Welcome to AGO!!!

Welcome to AGO!

I'm located near Midland, MI myself.

Having fun with the weather in Marquette? Hahaha, I lived in Houghton for five years and got to make the occasional trip through there.

Kamakaz1961 - If this is what you're thinking of then yes ;) This was a full compound and wax, red paint was oxidized and dull from 2 michigan winters and all the dust/contaminants that come along with hauling salt, sand and gravel.

Between polishing (by hand) all the stainless/polished aluminum and buff/wax they would be a 20 hour job just for the tractor. Trailers were another nightmare all together.

J Cole- I think we have 180 inches or so of total snowfall so far? Luckily for me my car is safely in storage back downstate! It's cold and I can't wait for spring! haha

Wow!! You did that all by hand incredible!! Get the Flex 3401!!! You will save a tremendous amount of time! Either way; way cool I know I couldn't do what you do!!

Welcome to Autogeek. Whew, time to start using a machine to polish.

Haha! Like I said this was right about 4 years ago now, after venturing off and establishing my own company, a lot of what I knew changed for more cost and time effective approaches.

My Fusion hasn't needed more than the normal wash, clay, sealant and wax in the past 2 years of ownership. Proper washing has kept away swirls and marring, but it's now starting to show some very minor swirling in the correct lighting and at the right angles. So I'll be going over it with Blackfire finishing polish with my new PC, and possibly breaking out the compound for a couple of slightly deeper scratches.

I don't do near as much detailing today besides my own and family vehicles since I started my career in IT. But I do occasionally work at the detail shop and when I do work there we have GG DA's and the right equipment for knocking out multiple vehicles efficiently.

Welcome! Wow, you're WAY up there!

Hey I'm from Michigan, you won't be warm again til May. Actually I remember snow in May before. I couldn't stand the winters. First chance I got I transferred south!
