I am new here and just ordered some products to detail my car(s) over the weekend. I am completely new to this and am now at the point where cars are to last me 10-15 years at least. One car will be paid off in a few months, the other is a temporary car that will be replaced once the other is paid off. I actually noticed how horrible both cars looked. I took them to get a detailing quote. Well, I figured I would give it a run myself. Buying the stuff would cost the same as having it done once. Nothing wrong with the pros, but I don't have money burning holes in my pocket.

Here is what I purchased:

1. PC 7424XP
2. Pinnacle Twins
3. Pinnacle Foamaster Gun
4. DP Xtreme Foam Formula
5. Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay Special
6. DP Poli-Coat Sealant
7. Some Microfibers
8. kit came with 3 pads

I have tire and wheel cleaner, new mitt, and brushes already. Since it is my elbow grease, my Cadillac STS will be first. I need to get that deep metallic blue to sparkle again. Right now, it looks like a flat dark blue. Very unsightly.

I look forward to learning all I can.

hone in your skills get both new products and a new machine plus a finish worthy of a pro hopefully!

What were you quoted in your area if you don't mind my asking?

It was $150 per car. I called a place locally and there was a guy detailing a car across the street from my house. It was the same price. The guy across the street did the neighbor's car in 1-hour (inside, outside, and carpet shampoo the floor mats). I don't know how he did it so fast. I am assuming he did a crappy job.

Oh wow, you would not have liked a quote from me, and I charge less than many.

Is there another occupation that pays amateurs three times what a skilled professional make. $150 an hour would be nice, hacks rake in the dough.

That is why I am doing it myself. I definitely cannot do it anywhere near what a pro can do. I know I can do better than what the guy did across the street. I just don't have teh $$$ to spend to get it professionally done.
