Hello All!

Glad to be a member of this forum! Long time lurker over the years and decided to join. I’ve always enjoyed detailing my car when growing up such as washing, waxing, etc but never got into paint correction until recently. Upgraded to Rupes polishers from the Harbor Freight DA and am pleased with the results it has provided. Both of my cars a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 1961 Cadillac are black with very very soft paint. Especially the cadillac. It was resprayed about 20 years ago with Black Single Stage Metallic paint. The painter did a great job laying the metallic evenly however its very thin so minor polishing it is. I still have questions and I will always be learning but hope to provide insight to others on the mistakes I made. Glad to be on board!

Welcome aboard sir!!
Very similar story to mine, upgrading to machine over hand was a big step up. Very nice pair of rides you have, '61 Caddy is a classic and the Grand Cherokee's have always been just fantastic vehicles.

Three shots of the Cadillac, one in full effect and an upclose of the paint. At night it looks black, at sunset it looks like a Root beer Brown and when its dirty it looks dusty because of the metallic! A Rupes white pad and Meguiars 205 are the recipe for its soft paint. Speed setting 2 or 3 and two to three passes at medium pressure work great. Sealed with Jescar Power Lock Plus and P21S are what I then top it with. While the correction isnt perfect I’m still having fun learning as I go.
