Hey everyone! I’ve been out of the detailing world for a few years and find it crazy how many products are out now. I am considering getting back into detailing after recently purchasing a new car for the wife; as well as after seeing the type of quality most “detailers” in the area are providing. I’ve read countless threads already over products and such and am glad I found this forum. I nearly bought all chemical guys stuff ( a lot too) but decided to research different products and came across this amazing site. I’m sure I’ll post some questions later on, especially before placing my order, but wanted to introduce myself.

Welcome back Hudson! There has been an explosion of products and techniques in recent years and while most are attempts at seperating me from those little green paper things in my wallet, some are actually game changers or efficiency builders.

Having said that, I have found a bunch that I use often.

In addition to that you have found and joined in on what I consider the single best exchange of information on this subject. What has kept me here for years now is the genuine nature of the members and an honest flavor of information. Opinionated? Sure but well behaved for the most part.

I am curious as to what are some of your “go to” products. The one you find yourself reaching for most often. I plan on starting another thread to see what some others reach for as well, but want to search and make sure it hasn’t been done recently. I really was amazed at how many products and techniques there are now compared to the methods and products I grew up with.

The products I restock most often are:

Duragloss 902 wash soap.
Meguiars Hyper Wash wash soap.
Menzerna compounds and polishes.
Megiuars M100 Pro Compound.
Megiuars M205.
3D HD Speed cleaner wax.
Lake Country Hybrid Force pads.
Megiuars D108 Super Degreaser.
Megiuars Leather Cleaner.

Bear in mind these are just some of my favorites.

I’ve never really used Megiuars, but like Menzerna. How do you like the hybrid force pads? So they last longer compared to how long pads use to last? I think we averaged 6-8 pads per car years ago. What polisher(s) do you use? I am looking at the flex 3401 now.

I was really amazed at how many different soap options are available now. I couldn’t really find a huge difference in any of them. Even the foam cannon have a ton of options.

Really like the Force Hybrid pads, pretty much all I use with Flex 3401. Gray heavy cutting pad with M101 can do some serious cutting...but don't last forever when really leaning into it on badly oxidized paint.

Nice that those pads are relatively cheap too. Have used em with Sonax PF (orange or white), M205, HD Polish+ with nice results. Good stuff on the 3401.

How hard are they to clean? They sound fairly durable, but if they are cheap it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.

Quite easy to clean, no issues really. Too aggressive though and you'll start to rough up the gray heavy cutting.

I love the force hybrids and I use a Flex 3401 mostly. I have also used them on my rotary and they work just as good.

And yes, 6-8 pads per vehicle easily!

Durability wise I think they hold up well but I clean them religiously after use. I also find them fairly easy to clean as most foam pads.

From a business cost perspective, I use some Megiuars products because of their value. Those Megs products I mentioned as most replaced above are the one's that work best for me and cost less than some of the other's in that category.
