I've been lurking and posting a bit, and it was suggested to me to post an intro so here I am!
My name is Connor Harrison, hence the CH in my username. As much as I'd rather not admit to it, I got my start detailing at a local dealership. I was 16 at the time and didn't know jack ####! Working at the dealership taught me a lot of things and gave me many real life examples of how NOT to do things! Thankfully those days are behind me now and I'm in the process of becoming a legitimate business owner.
I'm only 19 now actually, and have been detailing on my own for about a year and a half during which I've had the opportunity to work on several beautiful cars! I live in Sun Prairie Wisconsin, which is right outside of Madison. I detail strictly on an 'on site' basis as my parents wouldn't appreciate me hogging the driveway for an entire day or two!
I am currently going to school full time for a degree in architectural design and technology, while working part time as a delivery driver for a local sub shop, and still finding the time to schedule details!
I have two cars, both of which are Nissan Sentras, not the flashiest of vehicles but they get by alright! One is a '99 and the other is a '92. Neither of which are in "immaculate" condition. The '99 is my soon to be project car, and the '92 is my soon to be autocross beater until it gets sold. Once I sell the '92 I plan on taking out a small loan to finance a Subaru Forester so I can have something smooth, quiet, reliable, roomy, and capable of holding all my detailing supplies easily!
Enough talking, time for some pictures!
Here is my 1999 Nissan Sentra SE-L, same engine and chassis as a similar year SE-R mind you, albeit in a sedan variety. (Don't let the picture fool you, it doesn't look nearly as nice in person!)
Here is my 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R, the mega beater. I bought it in January and have only put 40 miles on it since, it has issues. Here she is when I first got her.
After some thorough applications of Krylon (GASP! Don't worry, this was nearly twenty year old Nissan paint that had never seen a garage in it's life) and some thorough weight reduction, we might have ourselves a contender!
Enough about my crap, how about some of the details I've done this year!
I kicked the year off with a 135i, this car is owned by a retired man who does storm chasing as a hobby, thankfully he uses a different Bimmer to go storm chasing in! Even so the car was in sad shape when I got there.
The car hadn't been washed in months and had heavy swirling with plenty of more severe scuffs and scrapes. After nine hours of wetsanding, compounding, and polishing it looked like new again! (I used 2000 grit sandpaper, M105, M205, via my PC 7424 using respective LC HT Cyan and Tangerine pads. Sealed with BFWD and topped with Pinnacle SSII)
Sadly I can't buff out curbed wheels!
Both the client and myself were very happy with how the vehicle turned out, and it was surprisingly pain free to work on (no real hang ups or snags while buffing, everything was very agreeable). Here are a couple of other cars I've had the good fortune to have worked on lately...
Thanks for reading this novel, I look forward to learning alot from you guys!
