Just wanted to challenge the forum's record and say that I have introduced myself! HAH!
Just kidding.... Hey everyone!!!
I just picked up this new hobby by accident. I'm not so familiar with tools and equipment in this business but here are my low grade stuff picked up locally:
-Makita (few years old, ~10A motor) rotary variable speed polisher/sander tool used for my other hobbies.
-7" backing some brand from locally
-Meguiars W4000 100% wool 7"x1.25" pad
-Meguiars W7000 purple 7" foam pad
-Meguiars medium cut polishing compound
-Meguiars fine cut (can't remember) polishing compound
The test was on a 01 Boxster black that I repaired (minor accident) and painted.
Hopefully, I'll get some photo or video soon. Just received my 3D GoPro setup and this could be a test subject.
Painted a few cars over the last 5-6yrs but this one had some over spray in 3-4 areas and had to sand and polish.
The step I took:
-wet 3M 800grits or 1000grits to knock down overspray
-wet 3M 1500grits to flatten things out
-~1500rpm wool w/ medium cut polish to remove 1500
This is where I'm at as the sun came up last Sunday. It looks good so far but the black can be deeper and looks kinda weird w/ strong light reflection, can't really explain it. Foam pad is next and hope that it looks perfect.
That's all!
