Hi everyone,

As I mentioned earlier I'm a newb to detailing. So I just bought this miata that was sitting for a year. Now I I see that I need some better grade stuff, but that is besides the point. I have two problems.
1.) I don't know if the paint is just faded or if the paint is oxidized, especially on the bumper.
2.) every time I do each step I can see red color on my cleaning stuff.

The stuff that I used.

ICE Liquid Clay (I don't recommend it)
ICE Polish (okay)
Meguiars Seal & Glaze (I like it)
Meguiars Carnuba Paste Wax (I like this too)
Vinylx wipes
Stoners Invisible Glass (Aerosol Can)

I will get pics up ASAP.

Your Miata's paint is single stage (no clearcoat). This is why your applicators are turning red...do NOT worry, it's completely normal. :)

As pt91 stated, Klasse All In One is a great 1-step product that removes oxidation. You'll definitely want to invest in a polisher, since getting all that oxidation out by hand is something even I wouldn't want to take on! :buffing:

Thanks for the idea PT91, I'll definitely give that a try. It's better than my idea of pulling the bumpers off and trying to repaint them, and I still can't find the right color. :righton:

Matt: I put everything on by hand but I use a 10" orbital buffer to clean it off, then I use a MF for the last bit and buff. That "wax on and wax off" by the arm hurts. As far as making my purchases, I was thinking about the Klasse all in one and the poly clay because the paint is still rough.
Here are a couple of pics after I finished the aforementioned products. (I neglected to mention that I used a 10" orbital buffer with the terry cloth bonnets). I just ordered some MF bonnets.

If I want to prevent the red on the paint, then I should get the car clear coated right?
