Is the finish on my 2006 Jet Black BMW ceramic or regular clear coat?
If regular clear coat what are the negatives if any of using polishes formulated for Ceramic finishes ?

Try looking here for some possible locations:

my 06 BMW 330CI conv has got the hardest paint I've ever come across besides my 05 colorado. BMW in 06 did not use the "C" designation on paint code. Look under hood for paint color sticker, may say "hard clear" use appropriate products. good luck

BTW, you can use hard clear coat products on this paint

Here's an example of a vector drawing...Just needs the front/rear elevations bolded, as well as entire photo, then, sized to your needs...if you so desire, that is.

2006 Jet Black is some of the softest paint I've ever worked with and is notorious for being so. With that said, the Menzerna ceramic polishes actually work very well on that paint system.

Sure does seem soft to me... Okee dokee... given that ceramic or non ceramic works fine I am not going to lose any more sleep over it... thanks

I dont think BMW used the ceramics on any of the 3 series- just 5 series and up. Also, not used on any BMW painted in the USA (Z3 / Z4 / X5 / X6). This may have changed recently, but I was told it stands for 2006.
