Help! M105/205 on black Porsche 997S

Try sonax ntpc on crimson pad using da after m205 on white pads
 
I ordered some PO85RD, but it's shipment has been delayed, so I tried something I've used before, Menzerna Final Polish, with a grey pad. Working really well. Not perfect, but things are looking much, much better. Should look perfect after I glaze and seal it and I'll try the PO85RD next time.
 
if its the FF3000, it has a finish of 4.5 outta 5...

good to hear something is working for ya!

if youre using the Menz glaze it is a 5 outta 5 for gloss.
 
From your comments and selection of aggresive products right away on soft paint, its pretty clear that you ARE NEW to detailing ;)

Theres no shame in being new, thats why we have many resourceful and skillfull people here to guide you in the right direction.

I'll never be ashamed for needing advice testing a product I've never used before- that's why I'm here. The 105/205 combo is new to me, and it performed in a way I'm not accustomed to. Though it was not the right combo for this car (experimentation), I do look forward to testing it again on other vehicles.

However, your assertion that I am new to detailing is "pretty clear" only shows that you think you know everything.

By way of proof that I am not new to this, here are some photos of my 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 which has 138,000 miles on it, and gets 5k miles per year, rain or shine. When not at a show, or being loaned to dealers for special events, it's got my 7 year olds car seat in the back.

It's been on center stage for the launch of the new 2012 911, the 991. And it's been on stage for a Porsche Christmas party, as Santa's sleigh, complete with a Marine guarding Toys for Tots.

And it is a multiple Concours winner, including a People's Choice Award, beating out a 356 for the first time ever in a Peachstate PCA Concours.

If I am "clearly new" to detailing because I asked for help in trying a new-to-me product, then so be it, LOL!
 
Here is my 2005 Porsche 911 SC (SC = SuperCharged, which I did myself). It started out as a Carrera S. Now it's got 530hp.

I race this car, and drive it about 10k miles per year. It, too, has a car seat for my son in the back.

Also a couple of pics of a pre-detail, and post. This was a few years ago, using Menzerna SIP, FP, Glaze, then FMJ, which I don't see for sale anymore but it's an acrylic sealant. These were posted to autopia and 6speedonline at the time, where I am known as a detailing guy who knows his stuff. Do your own research if you wish.

So if I'm "clearly new" to detailing and can keep these two cars that race, and show, looking like this, then I'm Midas. So be it!

Cattman, you certainly have the skills needed to tackle your 997. That 87 is stunning. It looks like you are in GA and a track junkie like myself. Come join us at Roebling Road in January for our Florida Crown Region DE. I will let ya buff on my 996 between runs!

That laughable. Posting pics of cars (3 posts needed due to size restrictions per post) means I'm new to detailing.

Guess this isn't the site for me, I was hoping it would be helpful, but instead it seems judgmental and irrational, ah well.

Use the menzerna 4500 with a finish pad. That will take care of the problem.
 
After trying so many different combinations over the years, I keep coming back to Menzerna. Just seems to work well on this paint. I did take the board's advice and used 4500 with a grey pad to finish things, and I liked it a lot. Next time, I'll just go SIP or FP, and probably straight to 4500. In the past I've used their glaze, then FMJ, which always worked out well.

This time I sealed with Zaino: 3 layers of Z-5, and 1 layer of Z-2. Souveran topper to give it a little depth. I know on a black car it will evaporate quickly, which is fine, as I've got the lasting protection of Zaino beneath it.
