Here's the story. I bought my Makita buffer less than a year ago, and it has been wonderful. However, it stopped working. The problem, I thought, was one of the wires within the power cable has been cut somehow. The reason I thought this is because if I held the cable a certain way, the buffer would work. Being stupid, I took the handle area apart to find there's no problems with the power cord. Since opening the cord, the buffer stopped working all together. I dont see any other damages to other wires, or electrical parts. No burn spots or anything? If anyone has a clue, please help. Since I cutted the cord open, I think my warranty probably voided!

Worth a try to call Makita, tell them what you did, and ask for their help/ideas. At a minimum they will be able to hook you up with someone who services them.
In my little town there is a business that has parts and works on power tools and small engines. Call around to see if you have one in your town.

Did you check for continuity across each wire? Spotting a broken wire inside its sheath can be pretty tricky at times. From your description it sounds like a wire.

If it's less then a year old it should be under warrenty. I have not have much luck with Makita power tools so I quit buying them.

Alright, I found a website that sells replacement parts for all kinds of power tools. Order a power cord, hoping it will put me back in business. Thanks for the replies guys.

Don't guess, put an ohm meter across the chord and check for continuity.
